16. Finding an emotional face in a crowd and the role of threat-biased attention in social anxiety
Abstract : The evolutionary perspective on the functionality of prioritizing efficient threat detection (Öhman, 1986, 1993) provided the foundation for a hypothesis of an attentional bias for preferential detection of angry faces in a group of faces. Furthermore, an evolutionary analysis implied that such a threat bias would be enhanced in socially anxious individuals, whose bias for detecting threat in faces would be potentiated by their increased sensitivity for facial signals of social dominance. 17. Biased signalling at the IGF-1R : pitfalls and potential of the GRK/beta-arrestin system in cancer therapeutics
Abstract : Embedded into the boundary between the living machinery and the external space, plasma membrane receptors allow cells to perceive their environment and elicit appropriate responses. Two of the largest classes of receptors are the G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs). READ MORE

18. High Voltage DC-biased Oil Type Medium Frequency Transformer; A Green Solution for Series DC Wind Park Concept
Abstract : The electric energy generated by remote offshore wind parks is transported to the consumers using high voltage submarine cables. On the generation site, such transmissions are realized today by collecting the energy produced by several wind turbines in a bulky and expensive transformer placed on a dedicated platform. READ MORE

19. The Evolution of Sex Chromosomes and Dosage Compensation in Structurally Dynamic Butterfly Genomes
Abstract : Dimorphic sex chromosomes have evolved independently throughout evolution from initially homologous autosomes. Recombination suppression between the sex chromosomes causes one sex chromosome to degenerate, which will influence evolution of sex-linked genes. READ MORE

20. Essays on the Transmission of Human Capital and the Impact of Technological Change
Abstract : Essay 1: If grandparents have an independent impact on their grandchildren's schooling, intergenerational correlations estimated using two generations will underestimate the true level of intergenerational persistence in education. Recent research has found such multi-generational effects, but there is still no consensus on whether these estimates are due to a direct impact of grandparents on their grandchildren, or if they arise because of measurement error or model misspecification.
