  1. 1. Elastoplasticity of Grey Cast Iron FE-Algorithms and Biaxial Experiments

    Author : Hans E. Hjelm; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : Biaxial experiments; multiaxial elastoplastic behaviour; graphite flakes; FE-codes; hardening behaviour; graphitic grey cast iron;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on multiaxial elastoplastic behaviour of graphitic grey cast iron with the aim to provide physically appropriate and numerically reliable constitutive relations for use in FE-codes. To achieve this goal, this work is divided into three parts: Biaxial experiments are performed on thin cruciform specimens. READ MORE

  2. 2. Utilization of Andean grain flours in the development of wheat flour dough

    Author : Sander Jonathan Pérez Villarroel; Institutionen för livsmedelsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Wheat; Andean grains; Amaranth; Amaranthus caudatus; Canahua; Chenopodium pallidicaule; Quinoa; Chenopodium quinoa; Dough; Substitution; Ultracentrifugation; Phase separation; Dough composition; Macroscopic separation; Freezable water; Textural properties; Compression; Uniaxial tension; Biaxial tension; Principal component analysis; Partial least square regression; Bread;

    Abstract : Bread dough was studied in relation to three Andean grain flours, quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa), amaranth (Amaranthus caudatus) and canahua (Chenopodium pallidicaule), as partial replacements for wheat flour with the perspectives of dough and breadmaking. This thesis deals with the understanding of both dough as a complex system, consisting of various water-filled polymers, and dough as a viscoelastic material, with different responses to deformations, in order to contribute to possibilities for improvements in dough analysis and development of novel products. 3. 3. Breaking the symmetry : spin splitting of hole subbands in strained quantum wells

    Author : Oskar Mauritz; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Properties of the subband structure and related propertiesof quantum wells (QWs) are investigated, within the frameworkof the multi-band envelope function method. The subbands of aQW are replaced by discrete Landau levels when a magnetic fieldis applied perpendicular to the plane of the well. READ MORE

  4. 4. On the out-of-plane mechanical behaviour of paper materials

    Author : Niclas Stenberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the through-thickness mechanicalbehaviour of paper materials. The material response undercombined normal and shear through-thickness loadings isfundamental for analysis and understanding of many end-use andconverting operations, such as folding, creasing, printing,calandering and cutting. 5. 5. Mechanical behaviour of glassy polymers: experiments and modelling

    Author : Jonas Engqvist; Hållfasthetslära; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This thesis presents experimental investigation and modelling of the mechanical response of glassy polycarbonate (PC) during deformation. The mechanical response is studied experimentally over a wide range of length-scales using X-ray scattering techniques and optical full-field deformation measurement by Digital Image Correlation (DIC).
