36. Preparation of leaf mitochondria and studies on mitochondrial photorespiratory reactions
Abstract : A procedure for the preparation of spinach leaf mitochondria was developed. The procedure combines differential centrifugation, partition in dextran- polyethyleneglycol two-phase system and Percoli density gradient centri- fugation. The different steps separate the material mainly according to size, surface properties and density, respectively. READ MORE

37. Pea carbonic anhydrase : a kinetic study
Abstract : The enzyme carbonic anhydrase (CA), catalysing the interconversion between CO2 and HCO3', has long been known to be present in plants as well as in animals. Several of the animal isozymes, but none of the plant CAs, have been extensively studied. READ MORE

38. Precipitating Amine Absorption Systems for Carbon Capture
Abstract : Carbon capture using amine-based absorption is an established technology for the separation of gaseous CO2. It is used in the upgrading of gaseous fuels, and it has also been suggested that it could play a crucial role in the mitigation of climate change through post-combustion carbon capture and sequestration (CCS), and by creating carbon sinks through bioenergy CCS. 39. Studies on Airway Surface Liquid in Connection with Cystic Fibrosis
Abstract : Cystic fibrosis (CF) is one of the most common fatal inherited diseases, most prevalent among Caucasians. CF is caused by a mutation in the gene coding for the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR), which helps to create sweat, digestive juices, and airway surface liquid (ASL). 40. Diabetes in Young Adults : Remission, β-cell function and markers of inflammation
Abstract : Type 1 diabetes is caused by immuno-mediated β-cell destruction leading to insulin deficiency and hyperglycaemia. The decline in β-cell function and the clinical course after diagnosis vary. Whether the process of destruction of the β-cells is associated with markers of a non-specific inflammatory response is unknown. READ MORE
