1. Acoustic Forces in Cytometry and Biomedical Applications: Multidimensional Acoustophoresis
Abstract : Over the last decades the ongoing work in the fields of Lab-on-a-Chip and Micro-Total-Analysis-Systems has led to the discovery of new or improved ways to handle and analyse small volumes of biofluids and complex biosuspensions. The benefits of working on the microscale include: miniaturization of the analysis systems with less need for large sample volumes; temporal and spatial control of suspended particle/cell positions; low volume sheath flow lamination or mixing; novel separation techniques by using forces inherent to the microscale domain; precise regulation of sample temperatures and rapid analysis with less volumes needed to be processed. 2. Experimental study of phase separation in Fe-Cr based alloys
Abstract : Duplex stainless steels (DSSs) are important engineering materials due to their combination of good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. However, as a consequence of their ferrite content, DSSs are sensitive to the so-called ‘475°C embrittlement’, which is induced by phase separation, namely, the ferrite decomposed into Fe-rich ferrite (α) and Cr-rich ferrite (α'), respectively. 3. Phase Diagrams, Microstructure and Phase Separation in Alkyl Glucoside Systems
Abstract : The aim of this thesis work was to study phase diagrams, microstructure and phase separation in alkylglucoside systems. Both alkyl glucoside/water systems and microemulsions with alkyl glucosides have been studied. READ MORE

4. Phase Separation in Stainless Steels Studied by Small-angle Neutron Scattering
Abstract : Fe-Cr based steels, i.e. stainless steels, possessing a combination of excellent corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties, have indispensable applications ranging from low-end cooking utensils, to sophisticated components for nuclear power plants. READ MORE

5. Separation of biomolecules using Open-Loop Non-Isocratic Simulated moving bed (SMB) technology
Abstract : In biotechnological industries, downstream processing is a bottleneck in the complete production process. There is a wish to reduce the costs and therefore one tries to operate separation technology in continuous mode. READ MORE
