  1. 11. Design, Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Selective Nonpeptide AT2 Receptor Agonists and Antagonists

    Author : Charlotta Wallinder; Anders Hallberg; Mathias Alterman; Anders Karlén; Elizabeth E. Sugg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : AT2 receptor agonist; AT2 receptor antagonist; Ang II peptidomimetics;

    Abstract : The G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) are important targets in drug discovery. In several cases, the endogenous ligands that activate the GPCRs of pharmaceutical interest are peptides. READ MORE

  2. 12. Design and Synthesis of Angiotensin IV Peptidomimetics Targeting the Insulin-Regulated Aminopeptidase (IRAP)

    Author : Hanna Andersson; Anders Hallberg; Anders Karlén; Federico Corelli; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; angiotensin IV; AT4; insulin-regulated aminopeptidase IRAP ; inhibitor; peptidomimetics; γ-turn mimetic; macrocycle; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Läkemedelskemi; Medicinal Chemistry; Läkemedelskemi;

    Abstract : Peptidomimetics derived from the bioactive hexapeptide angiotensin IV (Ang IV, Val1-Tyr2-Ile3-His4-Pro5-Phe6) have been designed and synthesized. These peptidomimetics are aimed at inhibiting the insulin-regulated amino peptidase (IRAP), also known as the AT4 receptor. READ MORE

  3. 13. Relating the Bulk and Interface Structure of Hyaluronan to Physical Properties of Future Biomaterials

    Author : Ida Berts; Jöns Hilborn; Adrian R Rennie; Giovanna Fragneto; John W White; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : This dissertation describes a structural investigation of hyaluronan (HA) with neutron scattering techniques. HA is a natural biopolymer and one of the major components of the extracellular matrix, synovial fluid, and vitreous humor. READ MORE

  4. 14. Molecular Pharmacology and Structure Function Modelling of the Leukotriene B4 Receptor BLT1

    Author : Alan Sabirsh; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pharmacognosy; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi; Pharmacological sciences; fluidity; redox; chemotaxis; luciferase; calcium; ligand binding; point mutation; modelling; antibody; BLT1; leukotriene; pharmacology; GPCR; G-protein; receptor;

    Abstract : Leukotrienes are membrane derived bioactive lipids that play an important role in immune responses by initiating and maintaining the inflammatory responses. Leukotriene B4 (LTB4) released at the site of an inflammatory response attracts, activates and prolongs the life of leukocytes and lymphocytes. READ MORE

  5. 15. Design and Synthesis of Potential Aminoacyl-tRNA Synthetase Inhibitors

    Author : Itedale Namro Redwan; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Aminoacyl tRNA synthetases; Aminoacyl-AMP; Bioisosteres; Amino Acids; Solution-Phase; Protective Groups; Solid-Phase Chemistry; Molecular Modelling; Biological Evaluation;

    Abstract : Aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases (aaRSs) are essential enzymes present in all living organisms, their catalytic activity is involved in the translation of the genetic code into functional proteins and they are potential targets for anti-infective agents. The first step in the biosynthetic pathway catalysed by aaRSs consists of activation of the corresponding amino acid by the reaction with ATP to form an aminoacyl-adenylate (aa-AMP), the key intermediate in the biosynthesis of proteins.
