  1. 1. Direct electron transfer based biofuel cells : operating in vitro and in vivo

    Author : Magnus Falk; Malmö högskola; []
    Keywords : biofuel cell; direct electron transfer; enzymes; gold nanoparticles; implantable biomedical devices;

    Abstract : I vår moderna värd är vi väldigt beroende av elektrisk energi som vi använder för det mesta i får vardag: för att lysa upp våra hus, generera värme, driva våra datorer och mobiltelefoner och mycket mer. Produktion av elektrisk energi har dock ofta en negativ på-verkan på vår miljö. READ MORE

  2. 2. 2nd and 3rd generation electrodes for biosensors and biofuel cells

    Author : MNadeem Zafar; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; WrbA; pyranose dehydrogenase; cellobiose dehydrogenase; glucose dehydrogenase; direct electron transfer; Os-polymers; mediated electron transfer; single-walled carbon nanotubes; amperometric biosensor; biofuel cell; screen-printed electrodes; flow injection analysis; cascade reaction; bioanode;

    Abstract : The catalytic and electrochemical properties of tryptophan repressor-binding protein (WrbA), pyranose dehydrogenase (PDH), cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) and glucose dehydrogenase (GDH) on carbon electrodes were investigated using cyclic voltammetry and flow injection amperometry to construct biosensors and biofuel cell (BFC) anodes. WrbA has a catalytic FMN-containing domain whereas both PDH and GDH have a catalytic FAD-containing domains. READ MORE

  3. 3. Design and characterization of direct electron transfer based biofuel cells including tests in cell cultures

    Author : Peter Lamberg; Malmö högskola; []
    Keywords : biofuel cell; enzymatic fuel cell; direct electron transfer; cellobiose dehydrogenase; biocompatibility; enzyme kinetics; cell culture;

    Abstract : Enzymatic fuel cells (EFCs) are bioelectronic devices based on redox enzymes, which convert chemical energy into electrical energy via biochemical reactions. A major difficulty to overcome is to successfully connect (using e.g., immobilization) the enzymes to the electrode surface. READ MORE

  4. 4. Second generation of Glucose Biosensors : Biofuel cells and Neurotransitters

    Author : NAJAT BEDEN; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; GDH; PDH; GOx; CDH; mediated electron transfer MET; Os-polymer; Man-Os VI tmen; PVPOs II -Chitosan; Au-NPs-MWCNTS; enzymatic biosensors; non-enzymatic sensor; DA-sensor; Multi-analyte sensor; DA; AA; UA;

    Abstract : Different FAD dependent GDH enzymes together with the Os-redox polymer Os(4,4′-dimethyl-2,2′-bipyridine)2(PVI)10Cl]+ and a modified graphite electrode was shown to have distinct selectivity and high turnover rates towards glucose. The results of this study suggest that such electrodes may be applied either for glucose determination or as bioanodes in glucose biofuel cells. READ MORE

  5. 5. Heterogeneous electron transfer studies with ligninolytic redox enzymes and living bacteria. Applications in biosensors and biofuel cells

    Author : Vasile Coman; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; cellobiose dehydrogenase; direct electron transfer; mediated electron transfer; self-assembled monolayer; flow injection analysis; amperometric biosensor; E. coli; succinate:quinone reductase; biofuel cell; B. subtilis; whole-cell biosensor;

    Abstract : The catalytic properties and the inter-domain electron transfer of cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH) from the ascomycete fungus Myriococcum thermophilum adsorbed on graphite and thiol (SAM) modified gold electrodes were investigated using cyclic voltammetry, flow injection amperometry and UV-Vis spectroelectrochemistry. The fabrication and characterisation of a noncompartmentalised, mediator and cofactor free glucose–oxygen biofuel cell well-operating in glucose-containing buffers and human blood serum was performed.
