  1. 1. Breaking the ice : effects of ice formation and winter floods on vegetation along streams

    Author : Lovisa Lind; Christer Nilsson; Christine Weber; Michael Scott; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; anchor ice; climate change; in-stream; riparian; river ice; streams; vegetation;

    Abstract : Streams in cold regions are characterized by unique hydrological processes that control flow regime and water levels. One of the most important processes is the formation, growth and melting of different types of ice in and around the stream channel during winter. READ MORE

  2. 2. Gastrotricha of Sweden - Biodiversity and Phylogeny

    Author : Tobias Kånneby; Ulf Jondelius; M. Antonio Todaro; Sven Boström; Rick Hochberg; Stockholms universitet; []

    Abstract : Gastrotricha are small aquatic invertebrates with approximately 770 known species. The group has a cosmopolitan distribution and is currently classified into two orders, Chaetonotida and Macrodasyida. The gastrotrich fauna of Sweden is poorly known: a couple of years ago only 29 species had been reported. READ MORE

  3. 3. The importance of biodiversity for ecosystem processes in sediments : experimental examples from the Baltic Sea

    Author : Johan Näslund; Jonas Gunnarsson; Sara Sjöling; Nils Kautsky; Antoine Grémare; Stockholms universitet; []

    Abstract : Aquatic sediments are, by surface, the largest habitat on Earth. A wide diversity of organisms inhabit these sediments and by their actions they have a large influence on and also mediate many ecosystem processes. READ MORE
