  1. 1. Biomimetic surfaces : Preparation, characterization and application

    Author : Annika Borgh; Bo Liedberg; Fredrik Höök; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Self-assembled monolayers; biomimetic surfaces; phosphates; antifreeze; surface spectroscopy; Molecular physics; Molekylfysik;

    Abstract : I denna avhandling beskrivs tillverkning, karaktärisering och tillämpning av ett antal biomimetiska ytor. Biomimetik är att härma naturen och grundtanken är att titta på hur naturen löst liknande problemställningar. READ MORE

  2. 2. Biomimetic Membranes: : Molecular Structure and Stability Studies by Vibrational Sum Frequency Spectroscopy

    Author : Jonathan F.D. Liljeblad; Mark W. Rutland; Magnus C. Johnson; Tore Brinck; Lars Kloo; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Vibrational Sum Frequency Spectroscopy VSFS ; Langmuir monolayer; LB depositon; phospholipids; oxidation; biomimetic membranes; Surface and colloid chemistry; Yt- och kolloidkemi;

    Abstract : In the research presented in this licentiate thesis the surface specific technique Vibrational Sum Frequency Spectroscopy, VSFS, combined with the Langmuir trough has been utilized to investigate Langmuir monolayers and Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) deposited mono- and bilayers of phospholipids. Their molecular structure, stability, and hydration were probed to gain additional understanding of important properties aiming at facilitating the use of such layers as model systems for biological membranes. 3. 3. Biomimetic Reactions : Water Oxidation and Aerobic Oxidation

    Author : Lien-Hoa Tran; Björn Åkermark; Nina Kann; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cobalt II salophen; oxygen-activating catalyst; hybrid; manganese complex; epoxidation; water oxidation.; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis deals mainly with two oxidation reactions: water oxidation and aerobic oxidation, both of which have been applied in a biomimetic fashion. In the former reaction molecular oxygen is generated whereas in the latter it was used as terminal oxidant in oxidation reactions. READ MORE

  4. 4. Biomimetic Transition Metal Catalysts : Insights from Theoretical Modeling

    Author : Adam Johannes Johansson; Per E. M. Siegbahn; Margareta R. A. Blomberg; Per-Ola Norrby; Stockholms universitet; []
