  1. 1. Multisensor arrays : for bioprocess monitoring

    Author : Thomas Bachinger; Elmar Heinzle; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Bioprocess engineering, the technology that is focused on the exploitation of the metabolic potential of biological agents, has attracted growing interest throughout the past 50 years from both scientific and industrial communities. The products that have been brought to market range from pharmaceuticals and enzymes to food products and vitamins. READ MORE

  2. 2. Bioprocess development for biochemical conversion of lignocellulose

    Author : Ruifei Wang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Lignocellulose; strain engineering; stress tolerance; kinetic modelling; high gravity; scale-up; biofuels; SSCF; process development; Saccharomyces cerevisiae;

    Abstract : Due to its low environmental impact and high maturity of the fuel ethanol market, lignocellulosic ethanol is a promising option for reducing the carbon footprint in the transport sector. The characteristics of lignocellulosic feedstocks, such as varied sugar composition, low sugar density, low solubility, recalcitrance to enzymatic degradation, and inhibitors formed during thermochemical pretreatment, have so far limited the production process, and costs for conversion of lignocellulosic materials to ethanol are still high. 3. 3. Biosensors and Automation for Bioprocess Monitoring and Control

    Author : M A Kumar; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : online monitoring; ELISA; immunosensor; flow injection; Biosensor; bioprocess; control; environmental;

    Abstract : Bioprocess monitoring and control is a complex task that needs rapid and reliable methods which are adaptable to continuous analysis. Process monitoring during fermentation is widely applicable in the field of pharmaceutical, food and beverages and wastewater treatment. READ MORE

  4. 4. Advancement of sensor technology for monitoring and control of upstream bioprocesses

    Author : Judit Randek; Carl-Fredrik Mandenius; Gerald Striedner; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : In bioprocesses, the upstream process part with cultivation and harvesting steps has decisive influence on the final process outcome, including the quality of the product, the productivity and the yield. To ensure stable product quality of biopharmaceuticals, the U.S. READ MORE

  5. 5. Perturbation-based Control of Industrial Fed-batch Bioprocesses

    Author : Ola Johnsson; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; perturbation-based control; process control; fed-batch control; industrial bioprocesses;

    Abstract : The topic of this thesis is bioprocess control, more specifically control of industrial-scale microbial fed-batch bioprocesses. Its focus is therefore on methods which are easy to implement in an industrial setting, which gives certain limitations on sensors, actuators and control systems. READ MORE
