  1. 1. Core Biopsy of Breast and Axillary Lesions : Technical and Clinical Aspects

    Author : Shahin Abdsaleh; PG Lindgren; Per Skaane; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiology; Automatic core needle biopsy; Semiautomatic core needle biopsy; Surgical specimen; Dynamic needle behavior; Hormone Receptors; Radiologisk forskning; Radiological research; Radiologisk forskning;

    Abstract : The aims of this work were to image and analyze the needle behavior at automated core biopsy, to investigate the clinical utility of an alternative core biopsy technique using a semiautomated gun in breast and axillary lesions, and also to compare core biopsy with surgical specimens in malignant breast lesions regarding histologic features and hormone receptor expression.In two experimental studies, using butter and silicon phantoms, respectively, the needle pass was imaged and its dynamic behavior studied. 2. 2. Sentinel Node Biopsy for Breast Cancer : Aspects and evolution

    Author : Andreas Karakatsanis; Fredrik Wärnberg; Peter Stålberg; Helena Olofsson; Lisa Rydén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Breast Cancer; Sentinel Node Biopsy; Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide;

    Abstract : Sentinel Node Biopsy (SNB) in clinical practice was pivotal to the shaping of modern diagnosis, staging and treatment of patients with breast cancer. The use of radioisotope (RI) and blue dye (BD) has led to high detection rates with low false negatives, but delivery-of-care limitations connected to these tracers as well as the need for methods addressing new clinical conundrums delineates the urge for new tracers with comparable performance, easier logistics and, ideally expanded implementations. 3. 3. The Non-Invasive Liver Biopsy : Determining Hepatic Function in Diffuse and Focal LiverDisease

    Author : Mikael Forsgren; Peter Lundberg; Gunnar Cedersund; Bengt Norén; Olof Dahlqvist Leinhard; Steven Sourbron; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The liver is one of the largest organs within the human body and it handles many vital tasks such as nutrient processing, toxin removal, and synthesis of important proteins. The number of people suffering from chronic liver disease is on the rise, likely due to the present ‘western’ lifestyle. READ MORE

  4. 4. Clinical and quality aspects of native and transplant kidney biopsies in Sweden

    Author : Björn Peters; Bernd Stegmayr; Ingela Fehrman-Ekholm; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Native and transplant kidney biopsies; biopsy complications; risk factors; patients’ safety; biopsy needles; Resistive Index; IgA-nephritis.; Internal Medicine; invärtesmedicin;

    Abstract : Percutaneous kidney biopsies have been performed since 1944 to establish diagnoses and treatment. Risk factors based on a limited amount of data have shown age, blood pressure, kidney function and needle size as some risk factors for biopsy complications. READ MORE
