  1. 1. Heterogeneity and biopsy strategies in prostate cancer

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Lars Egevad; [1998]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Prostate cancer; core biopsy; tumor. volume; computer simulation; DNA ploidy; tumor heterogeneity; Genetik; MEDICINE Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine Clinical genetics; MEDICIN Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Abstract : For the diagnosis of prostate cancer, there is a need to develop biopsy strategies, that give representative information both for detection of cancer and for assessment of prognostic indicators.In 80 men, transrectal core biopsies from 10 standardized positions were taken before radical prostatectomy. 2. 2. Core Biopsy of Breast and Axillary Lesions Technical and Clinical Aspects

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Institutionen för onkologi, radiologi och klinisk immunologi

    Author : Shahin Abdsaleh; PG Lindgren; Per Skaane; [2006]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiology; Automatic core needle biopsy; Semiautomatic core needle biopsy; Surgical specimen; Dynamic needle behavior; Hormone Receptors; Radiologisk forskning; MEDICINE Physiology and pharmacology Radiological research; MEDICIN Fysiologi och farmakologi Radiologisk forskning;

    Abstract : The aims of this work were to image and analyze the needle behavior at automated core biopsy, to investigate the clinical utility of an alternative core biopsy technique using a semiautomated gun in breast and axillary lesions, and also to compare core biopsy with surgical specimens in malignant breast lesions regarding histologic features and hormone receptor expression.In two experimental studies, using butter and silicon phantoms, respectively, the needle pass was imaged and its dynamic behavior studied. 3. 3. Sentinel Node Biopsy in Breast Cancer Clinical and Immunological Aspects

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Jana de Boniface; Uppsala universitet.; [2007]
    Keywords : Surgery; breast cancer; tumour immunology; sentinel node biopsy; CD3-zeta; CD28; Kirurgi;

    Abstract : The most important prognostic factor in breast cancer is the axillary lymph node status. The sentinel node biopsy (SNB) is reported to stage the axilla with an accuracy > 95 % in early breast cancer. Tumour-related perturbation of T-cell function has been observed in patients with malignancies, including breast cancer. READ MORE

  4. 4. Sentinel Node Biopsy for Breast Cancer Aspects and evolution

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Andreas Karakatsanis; Fredrik Wärnberg; Peter Stålberg; Helena Olofsson; Lisa Rydén; [2018]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast Cancer; Sentinel Node Biopsy; Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide;

    Abstract : Sentinel Node Biopsy (SNB) in clinical practice was pivotal to the shaping of modern diagnosis, staging and treatment of patients with breast cancer. The use of radioisotope (RI) and blue dye (BD) has led to high detection rates with low false negatives, but delivery-of-care limitations connected to these tracers as well as the need for methods addressing new clinical conundrums delineates the urge for new tracers with comparable performance, easier logistics and, ideally expanded implementations. 5. 5. Clinical and quality aspects of native and transplant kidney biopsies in Sweden

    University dissertation from Umeå : Umeå Universitet

    Author : Björn Peters; Bernd Stegmayr; Ingela Fehrman-Ekholm; [2016]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Native and transplant kidney biopsies; biopsy complications; risk factors; patients’ safety; biopsy needles; Resistive Index; IgA-nephritis.; Internal Medicine; invärtesmedicin;

    Abstract : Percutaneous kidney biopsies have been performed since 1944 to establish diagnoses and treatment. Risk factors based on a limited amount of data have shown age, blood pressure, kidney function and needle size as some risk factors for biopsy complications. READ MORE
