21. Novel planar and particle-based microarrays for point-of-care diagnostics
Abstract : Point-of-care assays are easy-to-use, portable and inexpensive tests that canbe used to aid diagnostics by measuring levels of disease-specific moleculesin settings where access to advanced laboratory equipment and trainedpersonnel are limited, such as at the patient's bedside or in low resourceparts of developing countries. In order to achieve high multiplexingcapacities, such assays can be based on planar microarrays consisting ofspots immobilized on a flat surface or on particle-based microarrays basedon populations of encoded particles. 22. Cell line and protein engineering tools for production and characterization of biologics
Abstract : Our increasing understanding of disease mechanisms coupled with technological advances has facilitated the generation of pharmaceutical proteins, which are able to address yet unmet medical needs. Diseases that were fatal in the past can now be treated with novel biological medications improving and prolonging life for many patients. READ MORE

23. Array-based Autoantibody Profiling and Epitope Mapping
Abstract : Antibodies are a class of proteins that are made by the immune system to recognize harmful organisms and molecules. Their exceptional capability of specifically recognizing molecules has been investigated for over a century and information thereof has been utilized for a variety of applications including vaccine and generation of therapeutic antibodies. 24. Targeting Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptors with Drug Conjugates Based on Affibody Molecules
Abstract : Cancer is a major public health challenge and the second leading cause of death in the world, with millions of new cases being diagnosed each year. Traditional cancer treatments such as surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy are many times effective, but may also cause damage to healthy cells, leading to side effects. READ MORE

25. Electroanalytical devices with fluidic control using textile materials and methods
Abstract : This thesis, written by Ingrid Öberg Månsson at KTH Royal Institute of Technology and entitled “Electroanalytical devices with fluidic control using textile materials and methods”, presents experimental studies on the development of textile based electronic devices and biosensors. One of the reasons why this is of interest is the growing demand for integrated smart products for wearable health monitoring or energy harvesting. READ MORE
