  1. 6. 40Ar/39Ar, AFT and (U-Th)/He thermochronologic implications for the low-temperature geological evolution in SE Sweden

    Author : Pia Söderlund; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; 40Ar-39Ar; Fennoscandian Shield; U-Th He; AFT; geochronology; thermochronology; cooling; uplift;

    Abstract : The Oskarshamn and Forsmark areas in the Fennoscandian Shield, SE Sweden, have been chosen as potential sites for hosting highly radioactive nuclear waste. To evaluate their respective suitability, the geological history of the bedrock in these two areas has been investigated. This study has focused on the thermal evolution, from c. 500 °C to c. 2. 7. Specific surface area of some minerals commonly found in granite

    Author : Isabelle E. Dubois; Maria E. Malmström; Bo Strömberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Granite; Mineral; Surface area; BET; Sorption; Particle size;

    Abstract : The specific surface area, determined by the BET method, is a parameter often used to scale results of mineral studies of surface reactions in terms of rate and capacity to the field scale. Such extrapolations of results from small-scale laboratory experiments to the field-scale are important within many environmental applications. READ MORE

  3. 8. Vaikijaur, a palaeoproteroic Cu-Au porphyry style mineralization in the Jokkmokk granitoid at the archaean-proterozoic boundary in northern Sweden

    Author : Christina Lundmark; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Malmgeologi; Ore Geology;

    Abstract : The Jokkmokk granitoid is exposed in a plutonic massif northwest of Jokkmokk in northern Norrbotten. It is light grey to white, fine-grained, with megacrysts of feldspar and glomeroporphyritic hornblende and biotite. Small enclaves of mafic rocks and synplutonic mafic dykes are products of mingling with a coeval and possibly cogenetic mafic magma. READ MORE

  4. 9. On the origin of the Fäboliden orogenic gold deposit, northern Sweden

    Author : Glenn Bark; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ore Geology; Malmgeologi;

    Abstract : A new promising ore province, the Gold Line, southwest of the well- known Skellefte District, northern Sweden, is currently under exploration. This province hosts, so far, one operating mine, the Svartliden Au mine, and the recently closed Blaiken Zn-Pb-Au-Ag mine. READ MORE

  5. 10. The effect of forest nutrients status on ectomycorrhizal growth and community structure in response to minerals

    Author : Christoffer Berner; MEMEG; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Ectomycorrhiza are a symbiosis between trees and soil inhabiting fungi. The fungal hyphae ensheath the fine roots creating a mantle and grow in between root cells to create the Hartig net, where the exchange of carbon and mineral nutrients occurs. The ectomycorrhizal fungus is dependent on the host tree to receive the carbon it needs to grow. READ MORE
