  2. 2. Adoptive T Cell Therapy of Viral Infection and Cancer : Ex vivo Expansion of Cytomegalovirus- and Prostate Antigen-specific T Cells

    Author : Björn Carlsson; Magnus Essand; Thomas Tötterman; Malcolm Brenner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; Immunotherapy; Adoptive T cell therapy; Dendritic cell; T cell; Tetramer; Cytomegalovirus; Transplantation; pp65; Prostate cancer; TARP; Prostate antigens; Immunologi; Immunology; Immunologi;

    Abstract : The main focus of my thesis has been to develop protocols for generating antigen-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) and T helper cells (TH) for adoptive transfer to treat cytomegalovirus (CMV) disease and prostate cancer. CMV viremia is a severe complication in immunocompromised stem cell transplanted patients. READ MORE

  3. 3. From achiral to chiral analysis of citalopram

    Author : Björn Carlsson; Yngve Bergqvist; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : depression; noradrenaline; dopamine; serotonin; citalopram; selective serotonin-reuptake inhibitor SSRI ; high-performance liquid chromatography HPLC ; therapeutic drug monitoring TDM ; enantioselective separation; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Within the field of depression the “monoamine hypothesis” has been the leading theory to explain the biological basis of depression. This theory proposes that the biological basis of depression is due to a deficiency in one or more of three key neurotransmitter systems, namely noradrenaline, dopamine and serotonin which are thought to mediate the therapeutic actions of virtually every known antidepressant agent. 4. 4. Implementation and Analysis of Air-Sea Exchange Processes in Atmosphere and Ocean Modelling

    Author : Björn Carlsson; Anna Rutgersson; Ann-Sofi Smedman; Öyvind Saetra; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sensible heat flux; Latent heat flux; Momentum flux; Wind stress; Marine boundary layer; Air–Sea interaction; Swell; Climate model; Ocean model; Roughness parameter; Drag coefficient; Wave breaking; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Abstract : To understand and to predict the weather and climate, numerical models are important tools and it is crucial that the controlling processes are described correctly. Since 70% of the global surface is covered with water the description how the ocean and atmosphere communicates has a considerable impact. READ MORE

  5. 5. Interaction analysis and control of bioreactors for nitrogen removal

    Author : Björn Halvarsson; Bengt Carlsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot reglerteknik; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automatic Control;

    Abstract : Efficient control of wastewater treatment processes are of great importance. The requirements on the treated water (effluent standards) have to be met at a feasible cost. This motivates the use of advanced control strategies. READ MORE
