  2. 2. Advances in analytical methodologies for studies of the platinum metallome in malignant cells exposed to cisplatin

    Author : Yvonne Nygren; Erik Björn; Knut Irgum; Bente Gammelgaard; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Method development; Metallome; Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry; Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry; Liquid chromatography; Hyphenation; Organic modifier; Cisplatin; Platinum; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry;

    Abstract : The scientific progress about the important chemotherapeutic drug substance cisplatin (CDDP) and its function has often been rendered by data difficult to interpret, and still many questions about its mode of action remains to be clarified by the scientific community. However, studies of CDDP possess a high complexity due to; i) low intracellular concentration, ii) many potential biomolecule targets, iii) poor or unknown stability of the intact drug and its biomolecule adducts and iv) complex and varying sample matrices. 3. 3. Fluorescence-based ligand assays for protein detection using affibody affinity proteins

    Author : Björn Renberg; Amelie Eriksson Karlström; Per-Åke Nygren; Jörg Hoheisel; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Affibody molecules; biosensors; FRET; immobilisation; solid-phase synthesis; protein microarrays; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : The detection and quantification of biomolecules, and proteins in particular, are of great interest since these molecules are of fundamental importance to our well-being. Body fluids, as for instance human blood, are well suited for sampling of protein levels. READ MORE

  4. 4. Inner strength as a health resource among older women

    Author : Erika Boman; Regina Santamäki Fischer; Berit Lundman; Björn Nygren; Häggblom Anette; Anna-Karin Edberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Connectedness; creativity; flexibility; firmness; inner strength; old age; women;

    Abstract : Background Long life does not inevitably mean more healthy years; older women have an increased risk of disabilities, diseases and adverse life events. Nevertheless, many older women experience health. This may be explained by possessing resources that promote health, despite adversities. Inner strength is seen as a resource as such. READ MORE

  5. 5. Inner strength among old people : a resource for experience of health, despite disease and adversities

    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Inner strength; old people; health; disease management; instrument development; mediating; structural equation modelling; qualitative content analysis; caring sciences in social sciences; omvårdnadsforskning med samhällsvetenskaplig inriktning;

    Abstract : Background Inner strength has been described as an important phenomenon in association with disease management, health, and ageing. To increase the knowledge of the phenomenon of inner strength, a meta-theoretical analysis was performed which resulted in a model of Inner Strength where inner strength comprises four interrelated and interacting dimensions; connectedness, creativity, flexibility, and firmness.
