  1. 11. Studies to Avoid Decreased Efficiency in Multiple Stage Biological Wastewater Treatment Plants: Concerning Forests Industry Effluents

    Author : Maria Sandberg; Ola Holby; Erik Särner; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wastewater treatment; Forest industry; Black liquor; MultiBio; Toxic effluents; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik; Miljö- och energisystem; Environmental and Energy Systems;

    Abstract : Målet med den här studien är att förhindra effektivitetssänkningar i moderna biologiska reningsanläggningar för skogsindustriella avloppsvatten. Biologiska processer är vanligtvis effektiva när det gäller att reducera lättnedbrytbart organiskt material. Eftersom den utgörs av levande mikroorganismer (MO) är tekniken känslig. READ MORE

  2. 12. The Use of Lignin Derivatives to Improve Selected Paper Properties

    Author : Stefan Antonsson; Mikael E. Lindström; Gunnar Henriksson; Mats Johansson; Docent Roland Agnemo Tek. Dr. Harald Brelid; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; kraft lignin; black liquor; cross-flow filtration; lignin derivative; kraftliner; oxidative coupling; laccase; manganese; linseed oil; mechano-sorptive creep; kraftlignin; svartlut; tvärsflödesfiltrering; ligninderivat; kraftliner; oxidativ koppling; lackas; mangan; linolja; mekanosorptivt kryp; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Abstract : Ved består huvudsakligen av tre typer av polymerer, cellulosa, hemicellulosa och lignin. Lignin bildas i naturen genom enzymatiskt initierad oxidativ koppling av tre olika typer av fenylpropan-enheter. Dessa bygger genom olika kol-kol- och kol-syre-bindningar upp en amorf tredimensionell polymer. READ MORE

  3. 13. Towards a pure kraft lignin

    Author : Rufus Ziesig; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LignoBoost; black liquor; lignin; impurities; purification; carbohydrate; inorganics; precipitation;

    Abstract : The most widely used production method for paper pulp in the world is kraft pulping. In chemical pulping the polymer, lignin, which binds the wood fibres together, is partly depolymerized. This allows the wood fibres to be separated from each other. READ MORE

  4. 14. Optimization of Pretreatment of Kraft Pulp with Nitrogen Oxides

    Author : Urban Öjteg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Kappa number; lignins; Nitric acid; Magnesium; spent liquors; viscosity; softwood; oxygen bleaching; Nitrogen dioxide; Manganese; Oxygen; Nitrogen oxides; pretreatment; Kraft pulp;

    Abstract : Modified kraft pulp subjected to oxygen bleaching following pretreatment with 2% nitrogen dioxide for 140 min with the addition of oxygen resulted in low selectivity after subsequent oxygen bleaching. In contrast, pretreatment in the absence of oxygen removed more than 80% of the lignin after oxygen bleaching and still maintained high selectivity (kappa number less than 5 at viscosity 950 dm3/kg). 5. 15. Xylan Reactions in Kraft Cooking : Process and Product Considerations

    Author : Sverker Danielsson; Mikael Lindström; Richard Gustafson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Xylan; Kraft cooking; Paper strength; Sheet density; Methylglucuronic acid; Hexenuronic acid; Cellulose and paper engineering; Cellulosa- och pappersteknik;

    Abstract : Xylan is the main hemicellulose in birch, eucalyptus, and most other hardwood species. During kraft pulping a series of chemical reactions and physical processes involving xylan takes place. READ MORE
