  1. 6. Self-assembly in Melts of Block copolymer-based Systems Featuring Supramolecular Interactions

    Author : Mehran Asad Ayoubi; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hierarchical self-assembly; melt; block copolymer; cationic surfactant; non-ionic surfactant; supramolecular interactions; microphase separation; Linear-b-AmphComb;

    Abstract : The subject of this thesis is experimental investigation of self-assembly in solvent-free (ionic) macromolecular systems that contain block copolymer chains as the basic constituent component in combination with low molecular weight amphiphiles. In particular, especial attention is paid to study thoroughly a new class of block copolymer-based ionic supramolecules, named as Linear-b-AmphComb, that feature novel hierarchical self-assembly characteristics. 2. 7. Adsorption behaviour of bottle-brush and block copolymers at solid-liquid interfaces

    Author : Geoffrey Olanya; Per M. Claesson; Orlando Rojas; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Adsorption; Lubrication; Layer viscoelasticity; Protein repellency; Polymer architecture; Silica; Bottle-brush polymers; Poly ethylene oxide ; PEO; Block copolymer; Poly N-isopropylacrylamide ; QCM-D; AFM; Reflectometry; Surface and colloid chemistry; Yt- och kolloidkemi;

    Abstract : This thesis was spurred on by needs of current scientific and technological developments in the area of surface modification by use of adsorbed polymer layers. The importance of surface properties of polymer layers can be imparted in a broad spectrum of interfacial-related applications like lubrication, colloidal stability, detergency, and protein resistant surfaces, to just mention a few. 3. 8. Ternary Block Copolymer - Water - "Oil" Systems: Effects of "Oil" Type and Block Size on Phase Behaviour and Structure

    Author : Peter Holmqvist; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; poly propylene oxide ; poly ethylene oxide ; poloxamer; micelles; lyotropic liquid crystals; SAXS; structure; phase behavior; self-assembly; block copolymers; amphiphiles; poly tetrahydrofurane ; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : It has recently been established in our group that amphiphilic block copolymers consisting of a hydrophilic and a hydrophobic part can self-assemble in the presence of selective solvents (“water” and “oil”) into a variety of different solution and lyotropic liquid crystalline microstructures. The effects of the “oil” type, hydrophilic block size and hydrophobic block type on the phase behavior and microstructure of ternary isothermal copolymer - oil - water systems have been addressed in this thesis. 4. 9. The Interaction between Triblock Copolymers and Surfactants in Dilute Aqueous Solution

    Author : Jörgen Jansson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polymer technology; biopolymers; Polymerteknik; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; Calorimetry; SAXS; DLS; SLS; Light scattering; Structure; Complex; Block copolymer-surfactant interaction; Block copolymer vesicles; Self-assembly; Triblock copolymers; NMR;

    Abstract : The solution properties of dilute aqueous solutions of poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO-PPO-PEO) triblock copolymers and their interaction with surfactants have been investigated using static and dynamic light scattering, combined with small angle X-ray scattering, calorimetry and nuclear magnetic resonance techniques. In aqueous solution, the triblock copolymers P123 and F127 (EO20PO68EO20 and EO97PO68EO97, respectively) form micelles with a PPO core and a PEO corona. READ MORE

  5. 10. Aqueous Block Copolymer Systems. Self-association, Phase Behaviour and Partitioning of Biomolecules

    Author : Mårten Svensson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; block copolymer self-association partitioning phase behaviour; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : The phase and partitioning behaviour of aqueous block copolymer systems has been studied. The block copolymers used in this work were built up of three blocks. The middle block was poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) and hydrophobic. The two outer blocks constisted of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) chains and less hydrophobic. READ MORE
