  1. 1. Lead in blood. ICP-MS studies of lead in plasma, blood and erythrocyte proteins

    Author : Ingvar A Bergdahl; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; distribution; plasma; blood; erythrocytes; lead-binding prtoeins; delta-aminlevulinic acid dehydratase; inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry; ALAD; arbetsmiljömedicin; Occupational health; industrial medicine; Lead; toxicity; ICP-MS; Yrkesmedicin;

    Abstract : An inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) method for the determination of lead in blood plasma has been developed. The detection limit was below 0.1 microgram/liter, and the precision 5%. There was no significant difference between levels in plasma and serum. READ MORE

  2. 2. Development of Analytical Methods for the Determination of Antimalarials in Biological Fluids

    Author : Daniel Blessborn; Yngve Bergqvist; Anders Helander; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Malaria; Chloroquine; Quinine; Sulfadoxine; Pyrimethamine; Mefloquine; Lumefantrine; Amodiaquine; Pyronaridine; Proguanil; Atovaquone; Sampling paper; Dried blood spots; Capillary blood; Antimalarial drugs; Solid-phase extraction; Liquid chromatography.; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to develop analytical methods for measuring antimalarial drugs in biological fluids. Solid phase extraction (SPE) was used for the enrichment and purification of the drugs. READ MORE

  3. 3. Trace Element Analysis with Application to Environmental Pollutants Studies in Vietnam

    Author : Thi Hong Nguyen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; blood; environmental samples; discriminant analysis; ICP-MS; coal mining; hair; EDXRF; microwave digestion; CV-AAS; urine; sample preparation; coal combustion;

    Abstract : In the work presented here the attention has been focused on optimising sample preparation and analytical techniques for trace element determination, analytical quality assurance and environmental applications. Trace element concentrations in various environmental matrices were investigated using Energy Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence (EDXRF), Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectro-metry (ICP-MS) and Cold Vapour Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (CV-AAS). 4. 4. Regulation of Microvascular Blood Flow : a clinical and experimental study based on laser Doppler perfusion imaging

    Author : Helena Golster; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Local blood flow reflexes in the foot skin of healthy controls and in young diabetic patients with or without nerve dysfunction have been studied using laser Doppler perfusion imaging (LDPI). A neurophysiological follow-up study on nerve dysfunction is presented as a complerhent to the work on blood flow regulation in the young diabetics. READ MORE

  5. 5. Fluorescent quantum dots and graphene-based sensors for forensic applications

    Author : Johnny Jussi; Ying Fu; Simon Dunne; Qin Wang; Ingemar Petermann; Xin Wang; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Graphene; Quantum Dots; Blood; Forensics; Drugs; Biologisk fysik; Biological Physics;

    Abstract : A key emerging concept within the forensic sciences today areportable measurementdevices, where a much more efficient usage of the resources involved with crime-solving is possible if confirmatory measurements can be realised directly at a crimescene with such devices. Today, the majority of the presently used methods duringcriminal investigation at a crime scene involves measurements of a presumptivenature, which is a vital tool as it enables the screening of samples.
