  1. 1. Blood flow specific assessment of ventricular function : Visualization and quantification using 4D flow CMR

    Author : Alexandru Grigorescu Fredriksson; Carljohan Carlhäll; Bengt Johansson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The spectrum of cardiovascular diseases is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality globally. Early assessment and treatment of these conditions, acquired as well as congenital, is therefore of paramount importance. The human heart has a great ability to adapt to various hemodynamic conditions by cardiac remodeling. 2. 2. Three - dimensional ultrasound studies of the cervix in pregnancy

    Author : Linas Rovas; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; andrology; gynaecology; Obstetrics; Prostaglandin .; Labor induction .; Spontaneous delivery .; Pregnancy .; Cervix uteri .; Blood flow indices .; Doppler ultrasound .; Three-dimensional imaging .; sexuality; reproduction; Obstetrik; sexualitet; reproduktion; gynekologi; andrologi;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to evaluate cervical physiological changes by three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound during pregnancy and to investigate the ability of 3D power Doppler to predict time to spontaneous and induced delivery in prolonged pregnancy. The thesis is based on five studies: reproducibility of cervical measurements by 3D power Doppler ultrasound (study I), reference data representative normal findings of the cervix assessed by 3D ultrasound during pregnancy (studies II, III) and the ability of 3D power Doppler to predict time to spontaneous and induced delivery in prolonged pregnancy. 3. 3. Microvascular plasticity and neurovascular coupling in the pharmacotherapy of Parkinson's disease

    Author : Elisabet Ohlin; Basala gangliernas patofysiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Parkinson s disease; levodopa; dyskinesia; angiogenesis; cerebral blood flow; blood-brain barrier;

    Abstract : L-DOPA pharmacotherapy in Parkinson’s disease (PD) is associated with adverse effects occurring after a few years of treatment. Among these, dyskinesia (abnormal involuntary movements) is particularly common and potentially disabling. READ MORE

  4. 4. Renal hemodynamics in renal artery stenosis and angiotensin II-dependent hypertension. Pathophysiological and diagnostic aspects

    Author : Aso Saeed; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : angiotensin II; autoregulation of renal blood flow; color duplex sonography; endothelin-1; oxidative stress; renal artery stenosis; renal hemodynamics; renovascular hypertension;

    Abstract : Patients with renovascular hypertension have a poor renal and cardiovascular prognosis. To improve the care of these patients, we need to increase knowledge about the pathophysiological mechanisms involved. READ MORE

  5. 5. Maternal renal artery Doppler velocimetry in normal and hypertensive pregnancies

    Author : Marius Kublickas; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []

    Abstract : Background: The measurement of effective renal plasma flow (ERPF) by calculation of p-aminohippurate (PAH) clearance is an invasive, time-consuming procedure. In nonpregnant humans, the clearance of isotopes can be used to measure renal plasma flow, but the use of these radioactive substances during pregnancy is unsuitable. READ MORE
