  1. 16. Tissue Factor in Complex : Studies of interactions between blood coagulation proteins

    Author : Karin Carlsson; Magdalena Svensson; Susanne Wisén; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Many biological processes rely on specific protein-protein interactions, for example immune responses, cell signaling, transcription, and blood coagulation. Blood coagulation is initiated when a vessel wall is damaged, exposing tissue factor (TF) to the circulating factor VII/factor VIIa (FVII/FVIIa) which results in the formation of the TF:FVIIa complex and thereby the initiation of blood coagulation. 2. 17. Laminins in blood vessel development and disease -functional aspects in angiogenesis, atherosclerosis, and muscular dystrophy

    Author : Alexander Nyström; Muskelbiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; vasculature; angiogenesis; Medicine human and vertebrates ; disease; LG domains; Laminin; Medicin människa och djur ;

    Abstract : Basement membranes are sheet like extracellular matrices that underlie or surround many cell types. They are crucial for key cellular events such as cell migration, proliferation, survival and differentiation. Vital components of all basement membranes are laminins, heterotrimeric combinations of different laminin chain isoforms. READ MORE

  3. 18. Magnetic resonance imaging markers of cerebral small vessel disease in an elderly population – association with cardiovascular disease and cognitive function

    Author : Ruta Nylander; Elna-Marie Larsson; Mona K. Beyer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Magnetic resonance imaging; cerebral perfusion; small vessel disease; cognitive function; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : Cerebral small vessel disease (SVD) is identifiable by clinical, neuroimaging, neuropathological and cognitive findings.The aim of this thesis was to assess SVD and cerebral perfusion on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in a 75-year-old population and compare the findings with scars of myocardial infarctions, cardiovascular risk markers and cognitive function. 4. 19. Cerebral arterial pulsatility imaging using 4D flow MRI : methodological development and applications in brain aging

    Author : Tomas Vikner; Anders Wåhlin; Anders Eklund; Jan Malm; Lars Nyberg; Susanne Schnell; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Magnetic resonance imaging; 4D flow MRI; medical image analysis; cerebral hemodynamics; arterial pulsatility; DCE MRI; blood-brain barrier; white matter lesions; perivascular spaces; cerebral small vessel disease; hippocampus; cognition; aging; biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap; Biomedical Radiation Science;

    Abstract : 4D flow magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is increasingly recognizedas a versatile tool to assess arterial and venous hemodynamics. Cerebral arterial pulsatility is typically assessed by analyzing flow waveforms over the cardiac cycle, where flow amplitude is a function of cardiac output, central arterial stiffness, and cerebrovascular resistance and compliance. 5. 20. Computational modelling of blood flow in medical assist devices

    Author : Francesco Fiusco; Lisa Prahl Wittberg; Lars Mikael Broman; Anders Dahlkild; David Ku; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; computational fluid dynamics; haemodynamics; platelet activation; thrombogenicity; haemolysis; extracorporeal membrane oxygenation; sensitivity; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Abstract : Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is a life-saving support treat-ment in case of pulmonary and/or cardiac failure. An artificial extracorporealcircuit is used to offload the function of lungs and/or heart. READ MORE
