  1. 1. Theoretical studies of blue copper proteins

    University dissertation from Theoretical Chemistry, Lund University

    Author : Mats H M Olsson; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2000]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; quantum chemistry; metal-thiolate bonds; axial ligation; electron transfer proteins; reduction potential; reorganisation energy; Cu II ; Cu I ; strain; Induced-rack theory; Entatic state theory; cytochrome c oxidase; CuA; nitrite reductase; azurin; Blue copper proteins; plastocyanin; B3LYP; CASPT2; Soil Science; agricultural hydrology; Lantbrukshydrologi; marklära;

    Abstract : In this thesis, a critical investigation is presented about the role of mechanical strain for the electron-transfer properties of the blue copper proteins. It has been found that the structure of a realistic model complex of the oxidised blue-copper active site, optimised in vacuum with the B3LYP method, has the same trigonal cupric geometry as in the protein. 2. 2. Blue copper proteins as bioelements for bioelectronic devices

    University dissertation from Malmö university

    Author : Olga Aleksejeva; Malmö University.; Malmö University.; [2019]
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicine; Blue copper protein; Multicopper oxidase; Direct electron transfer; Oxygen bioelectroreduction; Enzymatic fuel cell; Biosupercapacitor;

    Abstract : This thesis is focused on bioelements for biological electric power sources, specifically, on blue copper proteins with and without an intrinsic biocatalytic activity, i.e. ability to reduce oxygen directly to water. These proteins, viz. READ MORE

  3. 3. Studies on spinach plastocyanin and mutants : Expression in Escherichia coli, folding and function

    University dissertation from Göteborg : Göteborgs universitet

    Author : Mikael Ejdebäck; [1999]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; plastocyanin; electron transfer; copper; protein-protein interactions; protein expression; folding; site-directed mutagenesis; NMR; Naturvetenskap; Natural sciences;

    Abstract : Photosynthesis is a process in which photons from sunlight excite chlorophylls in the thylakoid membranes of plants, algae and cyanobacteria. The photo-oxidised reaction centre chlorophyll P700 is re-reduced by an electron transferred from the soluble, blue copper protein plastocyanin. READ MORE

  5. 5. The use of fluorescence techniques for the study of some membrane-bound photosynthetic properties and some effects of copper on the thylakoid membrane

    University dissertation from Umeå : Umeå universitet

    Author : Göran Samuelsson; Umeå universitet.; [1981]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; chlorophylI-protein complexes; sequential extraction; ß-carotene low temperature fluorescence emission; absorption; in vivo chi. a fluorescence; copper; electron transport;

    Abstract : Lyophilized pea chloroplasts were extracted in a stepwise manner in an organic solvent (petroleum ether) with increasing polarity which was obtained by addition of small amount of ETOH (0-1 %). Absorption and low temperature fluorescence emission spectra were measured on both the extracted thylakoids and on isolated chlorophylI-protein complexes. READ MORE
