  1. 1. Excitation and Excited State Properties of Heterocyclic Chromophores. Indole and Purine Derivatives of Biological Significance

    Author : Bo Albinsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; linear dichroism LD ; fluorescence polarization anisotropy FPA ; electronic excitations; magnetic circular dichroism;

    Abstract : Proteins and nucleic acids absorb light in the near-UV due to the presence of aromatic heterocyclic chromophores. In this work linear dichroism (LD) in combination with fluorescence polarization anisotropy (FPA) and magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) is used to investigate electronic excitations and excited states of indole derivatives, purine derivatives, the wye base, 2-phenylindole and 4',6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI). 2. 2. On the quantitative analysis of electronic energy transfer/migration in proteins studied by fluorescence spectroscopy

    Author : Mikael Isaksson; Lennart Johansson; Bo Albinsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biophysical Chemistry; Biophysical chemistry; Biofysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Two recently developed theories of electronic energy transfer/migration were for the first time applied to real protein systems for extracting molecular distances. The partial donor-donor energy migration (PDDEM) is an extension to the previously developed donor-donor energy migration (DDEM, F Bergström et al PNAS 96, 1999, 12477) which allows using chemically identical but photophysically different fluorophores in energy migration experiments. 3. 3. Heavy-Core Staffanes : A Computational Study of Their Fundamental Properties of Interest for Molecular Electronics

    Author : Niclas Sandström; Henrik Ottosson; Leif Hammarström; Bo Albinsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Organic chemistry; conjugation; polarizability; Group 14 elements; cage compounds; electronic excitations; quantum chemistry; molecular electronics; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : The basic building blocks in molecular electronics often correspond to conjugated molecules. A compound class consisting of rigid rod-like staffane molecules with the heavier Group 14 elements Si, Ge, Sn and Pb at their bridgehead positions has now been investigated. READ MORE
