21. High temperature corrosion in a biomass-fired power boiler : Reducing furnace wall corrosion in a waste wood-fired power plant with advanced steam data
Abstract : The use of waste (or recycled) wood as a fuel in heat and power stations is becoming more widespread in Sweden (and Europe), because it is CO2 neutral with a lower cost than forest fuel. However, it is a heterogeneous fuel with a high amount of chlorine, alkali and heavy metals which causes more corrosion than fossil fuels or forest fuel. READ MORE

22. Modelling of Biomass Combustion in Furnaces
Abstract : Biomass combustion in grate fired furnaces is an important approach to convert renewable biomass fuel to heat and electricity. It is not only used in the Swedish energy industry but also by a great number of Swedish households for domestic heating. Burning biomass has the advantage of being CO2 neutral. READ MORE

23. System Aspects of Black Liquor Gasification – Consequences for both Industry and Society
Abstract : The pulp and paper industry consumes large quantities of biofuels (mainly bark and black liquor) to satisfy process requirements. Biomass is however a limited resource, and biofuel usage should therefore be as effective as possible. READ MORE

24. Combustion, Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer in Oxy-fuel and Air-Fired CFB boilers
Abstract : The studies described in this thesis develop and encode modeling tools for the design and scale-up of oxy-fuel circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers across a wide range of operational conditions. The modeling comprises fluid dynamics, combustion, and heat transfer and uses expressions that are proposed in this work or derived from the literature, together with experimental data obtained under both oxy-fuel-fired and air-fired conditions.
