  1. 1. Inversion of Magnetotelluric Data Constrained by Borehole Logs and Reflection Seismic Sections

    Author : Ping Yan; Thomas Kalscheuer; Laust Pedersen; Maria Garcia Juanatey; Andreas Junge; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Magnetotellurics; constrained inversion; borehole logs; seismic; COSC; Alnö alkaline and carbonatite; airborne VLF; Geofysik med inriktning mot fasta jordens fysik; Geophysics with specialization in Solid Earth Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis presents two new algorithms for doing constrained Magnetotelluric (MT) inversion based on an existing Occam 2D inversion program. The first algorithm includes borehole resistivity logs as prior information to constrain resistivity directly in the vicinity of boreholes. READ MORE

  2. 2. High-Resolution Seismics Methods Applied to Till Covered Hard Rock Environments

    Author : Björn Bergman; Christopher Juhlin; Laust Börsting Pedersen; Ari Tryggvason; Ramon Carbonell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geophysics; High-Resolution; Reflection Seismics; Tomography; Nuclear waste repository; Bedrock; Sediments; Geofysik; Geophysics; Geofysik;

    Abstract : Reflection seismic and seismic tomography methods can be used to image the upper kilometer of hard bedrock and the loose unconsolidated sediments covering it. Developments of these two methods and their application, as well as identifying issues concerning their usage, are the main focus of the thesis. READ MORE

  3. 3. 2D and 3D Seismic Surveying at the CO2SINK Project Site, Ketzin, Germany: The Potential for Imaging the Shallow Subsurface

    Author : Sawasdee Yordkayhun; Christopher Juhlin; Charlotte Krawczyk; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Inversion; Traveltime tomography; 3D seismic surveys; Seismic velocity; Seismic source; CO2SINK project; Geophysics; Geofysik;

    Abstract : Seismic traveltime inversion, traveltime tomography and seismic reflection techniques have been applied for two dimensional (2D) and three dimensional (3D) data acquired in conjunction with site characterization and monitoring aspects at a carbon dioxide (CO2) geological storage site at Ketzin, Germany (the CO2SINK project). Conventional seismic methods that focused on investigating the CO2 storage and caprock formations showed a poor or no image of the upper 150 m. READ MORE

  4. 4. 3D Geophysical and Geological Modeling in the Skellefte District: Implications for Targeting Ore Deposits

    Author : Alireza Malehmir; Ari Tryggvason; Christopher Juhlin; Bernd Milkereit; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geophysics; Seismic reflection; Hardrock; VHMS deposits; Potential field; 3D geologic model; Skellefte District; Geofysik;

    Abstract : With the advancements in acquisition and processing of seismic reflection data recorded over crystalline rocks, building three-dimensional geologic models becomes increasingly favorable. Because of little available petrophysical data, interpretations of seismic reflection data in hardrock terrains are often speculative. READ MORE

  5. 5. Geophysical targeting of Fe-oxide Cu-Au deposits in the northern fennoscandian sheild

    Author : Alessandro Sandrin; Satu Mertanen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tillämpad geofysik; Applied Geophysics; Exploration Geophysics; Prospekteringsgeofysik;

    Abstract : In the last decades Fe-Oxide Cu-Au deposits have been discovered and developed in Australia, South America and Canada. This class of mineral deposits is also present in northern Sweden and thus represents a potential target for improving the mineral production of the country. READ MORE
