  2. 2. Urban Building Energy Modeling for Retrofit Scenarios : Development, Calibration, Validation and Implementation for Swedish Residential Buildings

    Author : Fatemeh Johari; Joakim Widén; Darren Robinson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Urban building energy modeling; Urban building energy retrofit; Urban energy system; Urban energy planning; Energy performance certificate; Energy efficiency; low-energy cities; Engineering Science with specialization in Civil Engineering and Built Environment; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot byggteknik och byggd miljö;

    Abstract : The necessity for an accelerated transition of urban energy systems and, in particular, the building sector toward energy efficiency and carbon neutrality poses new challenges to planning and retrofitting existing buildings. To cope with these challenges, so-called urban building energy models (UBEMs) have been introduced for quantifying the energy demand in the building sector, identifying the hot spots of energy use and suggesting scenarios for retrofitting the buildings. 3. 3. Modeling the microstructural evolution during hot working of C-Mn and Nb microalloyed steels using a physically based model

    Author : Linda Lissel; Stefan Jonsson; Bertil Ahlblom; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; austenite; modeling; hot deformation; microstructure evolution; static recrystallization; dynamic recrystallization; metadynamic recrystallization; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Recrystallization kinetics, during and after hot deformation, has been investigated for decades. From these investigations several equations have been derived for describing it. The equations are often empirical or semi-empirical, i.e. READ MORE

  4. 4. Radiation properties of coil-coated steel in building envelope surfaces and the influence on building thermal performance

    Author : Ali Joudi; Bahram Moshfegh; Mats Rönnelid; Harald Svedung; Mathias Cehlin; Runming Yao; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy and Built Environments; Energi och samhällsbyggnad;

    Abstract : Recent studies have shown that the optical properties of building exterior surfaces are important in terms of energy use and thermal comfort. While the majority of the studies are related to exterior surfaces, the radiation properties of interior surfaces are less thoroughly investigated. READ MORE

  5. 5. The impact of big-boxes on local retail : What happens when IKEA comes to town?

    Author : Nilsson Helena; Niklas Rudholm; Mikael Svensson; Högskolan Dalarna; []

    Abstract : The development of large discount retailers, or big-boxes as they are sometimes referred to, are often subject to heated debate and their entry on a market is greeted with either great enthusiasm or dread. For instance, the world’s largest retailer Wal-Mart (Forbes 2014) has a number of anti- and pro-groups dedicated to its being and the event of a Wal-Mart entry tends to be met with protests and campaigns (Decamme 2013) but also welcomed by, for instance, consumers (Davis & DeBonis 2013).
