1. Synthesis of Organoboronic Acids and Applications in Asymmetric Organocatalysis
Abstract : Allyl- and allenylboronic acids are valuable reagents in organic synthesis due to their configurational stability and high reactivity. Few allyl- and allenylboronates are commercially available. Therefore, both the preparation and synthetic application of these organoboronic acids are subjects of study. READ MORE

2. Efficient and High-Yielding Routes to Diaryliodonium Salts
Abstract : This thesis summarizes three novel and general reaction protocols for the synthesis of diaryliodonium salts. All protocols utilize mCPBA as oxidant and the acids used are either TfOH, to obtain triflate salts, or BF3•Et2O that gives the corresponding tetrafluoroborate salts in situ. READ MORE

3. Diaryliodonium Salts : Development of Synthetic Methodologies and α-Arylation of Enolates
Abstract : This thesis describes novel reaction protocols for the synthesis of diaryliodonium salts and also provides an insight to the mechanism of α-arylation of carbonyl compounds with diaryliodonium salts. The first chapter gives a general introduction to the field of hypervalent iodine chemistry, mainly focusing on recent developments and applications of diaryliodonium salts. READ MORE

4. Experimental and Theoretical Studies of Boronic Acids as a Co-Crystal Former
Abstract : Multi-component molecular crystal materials have become a surging research subject due to their potential for applications in various fields such as pharmaceutics, energetic materials, electronics, etc. Their properties are governed by the arrangement of the constituent molecules and the various non-covalent interactions between them in their solid-state structure. 5. Hydroarylation of Fullerene C60 Using Arylboronic Acids via Rhodium Catalysis : Improving the Outcomes and Simplifying the Conditions
Abstract : Hydroarylation with arylboronic acids is one of the functionalization methods for synthesis of modified fullerenes. In this work, we provide a fast and reproducible one-phase method for hydroarylation of fullerene using boronic acids and an analytical HPLC method that efficiently separates unreacted C60 and product from a hydroarylation reaction mixture as well as a fulleropyrrolidine reaction mixture.
