16. Postprocessing Techniques and Adaptivity in the Finite Element Method
Abstract : The Finite Element (FE) method is an approximate method and as such the accuracy of its solutions must be controlled to allow for a reliable application. This thesis deals with error estimation and improvements of the FE solutions based on superconvergent properties of the FE solution in certain points. READ MORE

17. On an Efficient Method fo Time-Domain Computational Aeroelasticity
Abstract : The present thesis summarizes work on developing a method for unsteady aerodynamic analysis primarily for aeroelastic simulations. In contrast to widely used prediction tools based on frequency-domain representations, the current approach aims to provide a time-domain simulation capability which can be readily integrated with possibly nonlinear structural and control system models. 18. On Numerical Methods for the Diffusion Equation Subject to Non-Local Boundary Conditions
Abstract : In the first paper three different finite difference methods for solving the heat equation in one space dimension with boundary conditions containing integrals over the interior of the interval are considered. The schemes are based on the forward Euler, the backward Euler and the Crank-Nicolson methods. Error estimates are derived in maximum norm. READ MORE

19. Numerical Analysis of Evolution Problems in Multiphysics
Abstract : In this thesis we study numerical methods for evolution problems in multiphysics. The term multiphysics is commonly used to describe physical phenomena that involve several interacting models. Typically, such problems result in coupled systems of partial differential equations. READ MORE

20. Understanding Boundary Conditions for Brain Injury Prediction : Finite Element Analysis of Vulnerable Road Users
Abstract : Vulnerable road users (VRUs) are overrepresented in the statistics on severe and deadly injuries in traffic accidents, most commonly involving the head. The finite element (FE) method presents the possibility to model complex interactions between the human body and vehicles in order to better understand the injury mechanisms. READ MORE
