  1. 1. Managing a cross-institutional setting : a case study of a Western firm's subsidiary in the Ukraine

    Author : Peter Hultén; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Boundary Spanning; Consonance; Cross-Institutional; Dissonance; Filtering; Filtering Conditions; Identity Identification; Institutional Influence; Networks; Norms; Post-Soviet Market; Power; Screening; Socialisation; Vacuum; Företagsetablering; Ukraina; Nätverksplanering; Multinationella företag; Dotterbolag; Postkommunism;

    Abstract : This study explores the development of a Western firm's subsidiary in the Ukraine and sets out to contribute to the theoretical development about the managing of subsidiaries in the Post-Soviet market. The cross-institutional approach to analyse the subsidiary has been adopted to explore influence from the institutional setting of the parent firm and from local institutions. READ MORE

  2. 2. Digitalized industrial equipment : an investigation of remote diagnostics services

    Author : Katrin Jonsson; Jonny Holmström; Ola Henfridsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; boundary-spanning practices; e-maintenance; industry; information technology; IT-enabled services; remote diagnostics systems; ubiquitous computing; Informatics; computer and systems science; Informatik; data- och systemvetenskap;

    Abstract : With the ubiquity of digitalization, digital convergence of applications, devices, networks and artifacts presents both challenges and opportunities for individuals, organizations and society. Physical artifacts that were not digital in the recent past are now increasingly becoming intertwined with digital components, providing them with digital capabilities. READ MORE

  3. 3. Geochemical and sedimentary signatures of Phanerozoic events

    Author : Jane Wigforss-Lange; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; geokemi; Sedimentology; Petrology; mineralogy; geochemistry; Petrologi; mineralogi; Carbon and oxygen isotopes; Jurassic-Cretaceous boundary; K-T boundary; Late Silurian; Events; Trace elements; Sedimentologi;

    Abstract : Geological and biological catastrophic events have occurred repeatedly in the Earth's history, leaving traces in the global stratigraphical record in the form of sedimentary features, geochemical anomalies and biotic turnovers. This thesis focuses on the sedimentological and geochemical signatures of several key events in the Phanerozoic stratigraphical record, and aims to interpret the different signals and the causal mechanisms behind each of these events. 4. 4. Fixed-Parameter Algorithms for Optimal Convex Partitions and Other Results

    Author : Magdalene Grantson Borgelt; Data Vetenskap; []

    Abstract : In this thesis I study two-dimensional geometric optimization problems for which it is difficult to find efficient, exact, deterministic algorithms. All known solutions to these problems require time that is exponential in the total size of the input. READ MORE

  5. 5. Leveraging user relationships for innovation within sustained producer-user ecosystems : Observations from the medical technology industry

    Author : Carl Wadell; Mats Magnusson; Fredrik Hacklin; KTH; []
    Keywords : SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; Producer-user ecosystems; User involvement; Innovation; Boundary-spanners; Social networks; Medical technology; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Abstract : Today we can see how companies are making significant investments in various methods and tools to access and utilize the users’ knowledge for the purpose of innovation efforts. What many highly innovative companies try to accomplish with these investments is to develop and establish sustained producer-user ecosystems. READ MORE
