  1. 6. FDG-PET in Cervical Cancer - Translational Studies

    Author : Maria Bjurberg; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in females. The treatment, based on clinical FIGO stage, carries a significant risk of side effects. FDG-PET enables non-invasive studies of glucose metabolism. Cancer cells show an increased glucose uptake and metabolism that can be visualised and further analysed. READ MORE

  2. 7. Head and Neck Cancer: Studies on microvessel density, radiation response and FDG PET

    Author : Eva Brun; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; positron emission tomography PET ; 2-18 fluoro deoxy glucose FDG ; radiotherapy; microvessel density; Head and neck cancer; therapy response; Cytology; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; onkologi; cancer;

    Abstract : Treatment options of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) usually include combinations of radiotherapy and surgery, and in some cases addition of chemotherapy. In locally advanced cases cure rates are low. Current prognostic factors cannot foresee the outcome for the individual patient. READ MORE

  3. 8. Genetic polymorphisms in breast cancer in relation to risk and prognosis

    Author : Erika Bågeman; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; age at diagnosis; breast cancer; polymorphism; CYP1A2; IGF1; GSTM1; CYP2C9; CYP2C8; coffee; GSTT1; ER; parity;

    Abstract : Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women living in Sweden and the second most common cancer in the rest of the world. The risk of developing breast cancer is modified by environment, lifestyle, genetics and a combination of these factors. READ MORE

    Abstract : Patient associations (PAs) have an increasing impact for their members and for the health care system. This thesis studies PAs for cancer patients (PACPs) ? currently with over 20 000 members in Sweden ? regarding coverage, activities, and collaboration with the health care system with specific reference to the members? experiences. 5. 10. Refined diagnosis and prognosis in soft tissue sarcoma - genetic profiles, biomarkers and prognostic models

    Author : Ana Carneiro; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MFH; microarrays; prognostic factors; metastasis; local recurrence; proliferation; Ki67; Top2a; p21; p27; S-phase fraction; erzin.;

    Abstract : This work aimed at evaluate diagnosis and prognosis in soft tissue sarcoma (STS): In study I, 32K bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) arrays and gene expression profiling were applied to 18 leiomyosarcomas and 31 undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcomas (UPS), with the aim of identifying molecular subtype signatures. Both the gains/losses profiles and the gene expression signatures revealed striking similarities between the two tumour types. READ MORE
