1. Hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) catalysts Characterization, reaction and deactivation studies
Abstract : Production of biomass derived fuels such as renewable diesel, are primarily intended to reduce the reliance of the conventional engines on petroleum fuels as well as the emission of CO2 from fossil hydrocarbons. Hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) is a powerful technique that has been regularly used in the fuel upgrading processes. READ MORE

2. A tandem Catalyst for hydrogenation of CO2 to light olefins — The role of the zeolite component
Abstract : The catalytic conversion of waste CO2 into light olefins offers a sustainable pathway for green chemicals production in the future. Over a tandem catalyst with the bifunctional active sites for methanol synthesis (CTM) and methanol to olefins (MTO), CO2 can be efficiently converted via intermediate methanol into a mixture of light olefins (ethylene, propene, butene). 3. Catalysis for Lean NOx Reduction - Aspects of Catalyst Synthesis and Surface Acidity
Abstract : From both economic and environmental perspectives it is desirable to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels. One route to increase the fuel efficiency for vehicles is operation in oxygen excess. However, a major problem with this technique is the lean environment, which obstructs catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides (NOx) to harmless nitrogen. READ MORE

4. Partial Oxidation of Methane over Functionalised Zeolites and Zeotypes
Abstract : Partial oxidation of methane to methanol is an industrially important process that allows natural gas and biogas to be utilised for methanol-based production of chemicals or converted to liquid methanol fuel, which make transportation more facile. In this thesis, the activity for partial oxidation of methane to methanol over copper functionalised zeolites and silica supported copper is investigated using a three-step quasi-catalytic approach including catalyst activation, methane reaction and methanol extraction by water. 5. Studies on Lean NOx Reduction with Ammonia. Catalysts and Sensors
Abstract : Selective catalytic reduction of NOx with ammonia, NH3-SCR, is a promising technique to reduce NOx under lean conditions, e.g. in diesel engine exhausts. The main objective of this thesis was to gain further understanding of key parameters affecting the performance of catalysts and sensors for NH3-SCR. READ MORE
