  1. 11. Improved techniques for CE-MALDI-MS off-line coupling and MALDI-MS analysis of primarily hydrophobic proteins and peptides

    Author : Johan Jacksén; Åsa Emmer; Anna Karin/Minna Borg Karlsson/Hakkarainen; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Capillary electrophoresis; Hydrophobic peptides; Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Mass Spectrometry; Prestructured target; Off-line interface; Silicon microcanal; Matrix; Protein cleavage digestion.; Kapillärelektrofores; Hydrofoba peptider; Matris-assisterad laserdesorptions-joniserings-masspektrometri; Strukturbelagd provplatta; Off-line interface; Mikrokanal i kisel; Matris; Proteinklyvning -spjälkning.; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Due to the hydrophobic nature of integral membrane proteins (IMP) they give rise to several difficulties concerning handling and analysis, which is not the case for the most water soluble proteins. New analysis methods are needed, where the insolubility problems of the hydrophobic proteins due to aggregation and adhesion are tackled. READ MORE

  2. 12. Development of a Novel Promoter System for Thioglycoside Activation; and its application in the synthesis of a GD3 bis-lactam

    Author : Andréas Meijer; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; GD3; Organic chemistry; bis-lactam; ganglioside; thioglycoside; promoter; iodine monobromide; glycosylation; iodine monochloride; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : A novel promoter system IX/AgOTf (X=Cl or Br) for thioglycoside activation has been developed (paper I-II). The promoter system has been evaluated in the synthesis of two GD3 bis-lactam fragments (paper III)... READ MORE

  3. 13. Isolation and functional characterization of Hrp65-binding proteins in Chironomus tentans

    Author : Eva Kiesler; Neus Visa; Benjamin Blencowe; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gene expression; RNA-binding proteins; mRNA biogenesis; nuclear structure; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : It is well-established that the organization of nuclear components influences gene expression processes, yet little is known about the mechanisms that contribute to the spatial co-ordination of nuclear activities. The salivary gland cells of Chironomus tentans provide a suitable model system for studying gene expression in situ, as they allow for direct visualization of the synthesis, processing and export of a specific protein-coding transcript, the Balbiani ring (BR) pre-mRNA, in a nuclear environment in which chromatin and non-chromatin structures can easily be distinguished. 4. 14. Theoretical and numerical bimetric relativity

    Author : Francesco Torsello; Edvard Mörtsell; Eugeny Babichev; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; spin-2 fields; extension of general relativity; ghost-free bimetric theory; Hassan–Rosen bimetric relativity; numerical relativity; teoretisk fysik; Theoretical Physics;

    Abstract : General relativity (GR) is the standard physical theory describing gravitational interactions. All astrophysical and cosmological observations are compatible with its predictions, provided that unknown matter and energy components are included. These are called dark matter and dark energy. 5. 15. Textile Sound Design

    Author : Margareta Zetterblom; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; textile design; sound effect; sound object; design; sound; Textil design; Textiles and Fashion General ; Textil och mode generell ;

    Abstract : The thesis aims at developing conceptual and methodological tools in order to adapt sound in a “designerly” way within the discipline textile design. Occupational groups working with sound are to a large extent problem driven. READ MORE
