  2. 2. Microalgal solutions in Nordic conditions : industries transition toward resource recovery?

    Author : Lina Mattsson; Catherine Legrand; Elin Lindehoff; Hanna Farnelid; Kristian Spilling; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microalgae; algal cultivation; polyculture; resource recovery; seasonal variation; industrial partnership; CO2 mitigation; nitrogen removal; community composition; Ecology; Ekologi; Environmental Biotechnology; Miljöbioteknik; Miljövetenskap; Environmental Science; Akvatisk ekologi; Aquatic Ecology; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Abstract : Microalgal solutions can through photosynthesis recover greenhouse gas (CO2) and nutrients from industrial waste, reducing climate footprint and eutrophication. An added value to the process is algal biomass containing lipids, proteins, and carbohydrates with commercial potential for biofuel, feed, and fertilizer. READ MORE

  3. 3. On steady waves in two-layer fluids and ferrofluids

    Author : Dag Nilsson; Partiella differentialekvationer; []
    Keywords : Internal waves; ferrofluids; partial differential equation; nonlinear waves; travelling waves; solitary waves; dynamical systems; Hamiltonian systems; non-local equations;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns travelling waves in a two-layer fluid and on a ferrofluid jet. We prove existence of several types of such waves by reformulating the corresponding governing equation as an infinite dimensional dynamical system, where an unbounded spatial coordinate is used as time. 4. 4. Coastal microbial respiration in a climate change perspective

    Author : Anna Nydahl; Johan Wikner; Kristina Sundbäck; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; biology; biologi;

    Abstract : In a climate change perspective increased precipitation and temperature are expected which should influence the coastal microbial food web. Precipitation will have a strong impact on river flow and thereby increase the carbon input to the coastal zone as well as lowering the marine salinity by dilution with freshwater. READ MORE

  5. 5. Mineralisation rates of natural organic matter in surface sediments affected by physical forces

    Author : Carina Ståhlberg; Bo Svensson; Lars Rahm; David Bastviken; Anders Tengberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sediment; Organic matter mineralisation; Organic matter degradation; Redox; Electron acceptor; Resuspension; Advective pore water flow; Other chemistry; Övrig kemi;

    Abstract : Nedbrytning av organiskt material är en nyckelfaktor som påverkar omvandlingar av de många grundämnen som utgör eller är associerade till just organiskt material. En stor del av nedbrytningen av akvatiskt organiskt material (OM) sker i gränsskiktet mellan sediment och vatten. READ MORE
