  1. 1. Balancing Control and Breakthrough in Public Management

    Author : Klas Palm; Håkan Wiklund; Johan Lilja; Sverker Alänge; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; innovation; ambidexterity; quality management; public administration.;

    Abstract : Previous research shows that a good balance between focus on development of existing processes with development of new and innovative products, processes or services has a positive effect on organizational excellence. However, the relationship between these two quality perspectives is not easy to maintain and it is a challenge for every organization to find an appropriate balance between them. READ MORE

  2. 2. Hydrodynamic control of retention in heterogeneous aquifers and fractured rock

    Author : Hua Cheng; Vladimir Cvetkovic; Chin-Fu Tsang; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Aquifer; Fracture; groundwater; First-order solution; Monte-Carlo simulation; Nu-clear waste; Heterogeneity; Retention processes; Matrix diffusion; Prediction; Evaluation; Travel time; Flow rate; ; Water engineering; Vattenteknik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, fluid flow and solute transport in heterogeneous aquifers and particularly in frac-tured rock have been investigated using Lagrangian Stochastic Advective-Reaction (LaSAR) framework. The heterogeneity of the aquifer structure or fracture configuration, as well as the various reaction/retention processes have been considered in the modelling approach. READ MORE

  3. 3. On the epidemiology, clinical presentation and transmission of respiratory viral infections

    Author : Nicklas Sundell; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; respiratory viruses; measles; influenza; epidemiology; meteorological factors; real-time PCR; viral transmission; lower respiratory tract infection;

    Abstract : Respiratory viral infections encompass a large heterogenous group of pathogens that constitute a major burden of disease globally. The various routes of transmission including airborne spread make them difficult to control. READ MORE

  4. 4. Dynamic Decades: A micro perspective on late nineteenth century Sweden

    Author : Björn Eriksson; Centrum för ekonomisk demografi; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; microeconomic data; industrialization; female employment; competition; firm survival; social mobility; migration;

    Abstract : This dissertation examines various aspects of mobility during the closing decades of the nineteenth century in Sweden. In terms of the pace and magnitude of the changes taking place during this industrial breakthrough, no other period in Swedish history compares. READ MORE

  5. 5. Microfluidic Hydrodynamic of Gas-Liquid flow in Single Microchannel and Porous Media with Microchannel Network

    Author : Shuo Yang; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; mass transfer; slug flow; porous media; interficial instability; fingering displacement;

    Abstract : In this thesis, a microfluidics platform with high-speed imaging system was built to investigate gas-liquid flow in single microchannel and interfacial instability in porous media with microchannel network:The mass transfer of slug flow in the rectangular and square microchannels was experimentally studied by using water as liquid phase and CO2 as gas phase. Depending on flow rates, flow patterns including slug flow, bubbly flow, and annular flow were observed in rectangular and square microchannels. READ MORE
