    Abstract : This thesis is focused on the origin and evolution of blue compact galaxies (BCGs). BCGs are low mass galaxies characterised by blue colours, low chemical abundances and high star formation rates. The gas consumtion time scale is considerable shorter than the age of the universe and thus the high star formation rate must be transient. READ MORE

  4. 19. The link between kraft cooking and bleaching : influence on ECF bleachabiblity and bleaching effluent parameters

    Author : Magnus Björklund; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The link between kraft cooking and bleaching was investigated, with the focus on how cooking kappa number, cooking conditions and pre-bleaching stages influence ECF bleachability and environmental parameters in the bleaching effluent. In one part of the study standard cooking conditions were used to produce birch and spruce pulps of different kappa numbers and then we studied how the AOX in the ECF bleaching effluent was affected by oxygen delignification, and hot acid stages. 5. 20. Electron-Impact Liquid-Jet Water-Window X-ray Sources

    Author : Peter Anders Skoglund Lindberg; Hans M. Hertz; Oscar Tjernberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : This Thesis describes the development and characterization of a soft x-ray liquidjet-anode electron-impact source. With a water-jet target the primary emission is the O Kα line at 525 eV. This is close to the lower edge of the water-window, a spectral region lacking simple laboratory sources. READ MORE
