1. Uncovering Ocean Mixing near Rough Bathymetry : Using Broadband Acoustics
Abstract : Ocean mixing related to rough bathymetry is highly dynamic and exhibits large spatial and temporal variability. Therefore, established in-situ methods as well as numerical models often lack the resolution to capture this type of mixing. In this thesis, acoustics are used to observe, map and quantify stratified mixing at unprecedented resolution. READ MORE

2. Broadband Wireless OFDM Systems
Abstract : While the readiness of the telecommunication market and the users' need for broadband mobile data are not currently noticeable, a set of presented megatrends and scenarios suggest that broadband mobile data access will develop quickly in the next ten years. Identification of the potential frequency bands offering cheap and trouble-free wireless infrastructure is therefore an important step towards the definition of new air interfaces. READ MORE

3. Assessing broadband policy: Towards a conceptual model
Abstract : The recognition of the growing importance of broadband to the public presentschallenges for policy-makers in introducing efficient strategies, not only to serve theincreasing demand for broadband among people in society but also to increase theireconomic level both in the short run and in the long run. Different measures and strategieshave been implemented in many countries in order to encourage broadband deployment. READ MORE

4. Broadband Ferromagnetic Resonance Spectrometer : Instrument and Applications
Abstract : This thesis compiles results of research in two mutuallydependent parts: 1) development of ferromagnetic resonance(FMR) spectrometer to study microwave properties offerromagnetic materials, and 2) characterization of new irongarnets: pulsed laser deposited Y3Fe5O12and Bi3Fe5O12films and Ce:Y3Fe5O12single crystal.First part describes a novelBroadbandFMRSpectrometerdesigned to characterize thin ferromagneticfilms. 5. Broadband Receiver Electronic Circuits for Fiber-Optical Communication Systems
Abstract : The exponential growth of internet traffic drives datacenters to constantly improve their capacity. As the copper based network infrastructure is being replaced by fiber-optical interconnects, new industrial standards for higher datarates are required. READ MORE
