  1. 11. Adsorption of polyhydroxyl based surfactants

    Author : Maria Matsson; Per Claesson; Robert Meszaros; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; surface chemistry; adsorption; surfactant; nonionic; alkyl glucoside APG ; ellipsometry; kinetics; alkyl amine oxide DDAO ; alkyl ammonium bromide DTAB ; solid liquid interface; synergism; coadsorption.;

    Abstract : Adsorption on solid surfaces from solution is a fundamental property of a surfactant. It might even be the most important aspect of surfactant behavior, since it influences many applications, such as cleaning, detergency, dispersion, separation, flotation, and lubrication. READ MORE

  3. 13. Polyelectrolytes and Polycomplexes in Biotechnology

    Author : Maria Dainiak; Bioteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; expanded bed adsorption.; affinity precipitation; Fab fragments; monoclonal antibodies; glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase; misfolded protein; chaperone; poly N-ethyl-4-vinylpyridinium bromide ; poly methacrylic acid ; poly acrylic acid ; Key words: polyelectrolyte; polyelectrolyte complexes; Biotechnology; Bioteknik; Chemical technology and engineering; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi;

    Abstract : Polyelectrolytes and polyelectrolyte complexes (PECs) are characterized by many useful properties that endow them with high potential in different areas of biotechnology. This thesis describes the development and analyses of some new systems and methods utilizing poly(acrylic acid) (PAA), poly(methacrylic acid) (PMA), poly (N-ethyl-4-vinylpyridinium bromide) (PEVP) and PMA-PEVP complexes. 4. 14. Molecular reorientations in some hydrogen bonded solids

    Author : Rolf Sjöblom; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Proton magnetic resonance second moments and relaxation times at various temperatures are reported for tri- and dimethyl ammonium iodide, bromide, chloride and hydrogen oxalate, and for most of the twenty common amino acids. A general procedure is described for the calculation of theoretical second moments and relaxation times in dipolar solids. READ MORE

  5. 15. In situ gelling drug delivery systems for periodontal anaesthesia

    Author : Marie Scherlund; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmacy; FARMACI; PHARMACY; FARMACI; anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology;

    Abstract : In this thesis local anaesthetic formulations based on PEO-PPO-PEO block copolymers (PEO and PPO being poly(ethylene oxide) and poly(propylene oxide), respectively) or nonionic cellulose ethers undergoing temperature- or dilution-induced thickening were investigated. The aim of the work was to develop formulations which can be easily administered to the periodontal pocket, stay at the application site, give a fast onset of anaesthesia and have a duration sufficient to perform periodontal scaling procedures.
