  1. 1. Ageing behavior of plastics used in automotive fuel systems

    Author : Xin-Feng Wei; Mikael S. Hedenqvist; Richard Olsson; Ulf W Gedde; Pieter Gijsman; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Automotive; Ageing; Polyamide; Diesel; Biodiesel; Diffusion; Oxidation; Plasticizer migration; Mechanical properties; Fracture behavior.; Fordon; Åldrande; Polyamid; Diesel; Biodiesel; Diffusion; Oxidation; Mjukgöraravgång; Mekaniska egenskaper; Brottegenskaper;

    Abstract : The increase in service temperature and the use of biobased fuels, such as biodiesel, have raised concerns on the short/long-term performance of plastic components used in automotive fuel systems.In this work the ageing behavior of unreinforced and glass-fibre reinforced polyamide 12 (PA12), exposed to three different fuels (petroleum diesel, biodiesel, and a mixture of these (80/20)) at high temperature, was investigated. 2. 2. A Study on Microstructure-Dependent Deformation and Failure Properties of Boron Alloyed Steel

    Author : Stefan Golling; Larsgunnar Nilsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics;

    Abstract : Developments in the automotive industry are driven by customer desires and legislative authorities. Legislation has restricted the emissions standards for vehicles, and has mandated the need for higher safety standards. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mechanics-based Design Framework for Flexible Pavements

    Author : Yared H. Dinegdae; Björn Birgisson; David Newcomb; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mechanics-based; asphalt; fatigue; reliability; traffic; variability; Mekanik-baserade; utmattningssprickor; pålitlighet; lastbilstrafiken; variabilitet; Byggvetenskap; Civil and Architectural Engineering;

    Abstract : Load induced top-down fatigue cracking has been recognized recently as a major distress phenomenon in asphalt pavements. This paper presents a mechanics-based design framework in load and resistance factor design (LRFD) format for the top-down fatigue cracking performance evaluation of flexible pavements. READ MORE

  4. 4. Development of Energy-based Damage and Plasticity Models for Asphalt Concrete Mixtures

    Author : Ibrahim Onifade; Björn Birgisson; Linbing Wang; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; energy-based models; damage; X-ray computed tomography; continuum plasticity mechanics CPM; effective micro-crack stress; Transportvetenskap; Transport Science;

    Abstract : Characterizing the full range of damage and plastic behaviour of asphalt mixtures under varying strain-rates and stress states is a complex and challenging task. One reason for this  is partly due to the strain rate and temperature dependent nature of the material as well as the variation in the properties of the constituent materials that make up the composite asphalt mixture.
