6. Dynamics and Thermodynamics of Translational and Rotational Diffusion Processes Driven out of Equilibrium
Abstract : Diffusion processes play an important role in describing systems in many fields of science, as in physics, biology, finance and social science. One of the most famous examples of the diffusion process is the Brownian motion. READ MORE

7. On the Structure and Dynamics of Polyelectrolyte Gel Systems and Gel-surfactant Complexes
Abstract : This thesis describes the results of experimental work on polyelectrolyte gels and their interaction with oppositely charged surfactants, and presents two new algorithms applicable to the simulation of colloid and polymer systems. The model systems investigated were crosslinked poly(acrylate) (PA) and poly(styrene sulphonate) (PSS), and the surfactant was dodecyl trimethylammonium bromide (DoTAB). 8. Latex Colloid Dynamics in Complex Dispersions : Fluorescence Microscopy Applied to Coating Color Model Systems
Abstract : Coating colors are applied to the base paper in order to maximize the performance of the end product. Coating colors are complex colloidal systems, mainly consisting of water, binders, and pigments. To understand the behavior of colloidal suspensions, an understanding of the interactions between its components is essential.. READ MORE

9. Simulation of Relaxation Processes in Fluorescence, EPR and NMR Spectroscopy
Abstract : Relaxation models are developed using numerical solutions of the Stochastic Liouville Equation of motion. Simplified descriptions such as the stochastic master equation is described in the context of fluorescence depolarisation experiments. Redfield theory is used in order to describe NMR relaxation in bicontinuous phases. READ MORE

10. Atomic transport in optical lattices
Abstract : This thesis includes both experimental and theoretical investigations of fluctuation-induced transport phenomena, presented in a series of nine papers, by studies of the dynamics of cold atoms in dissipative optical lattices. With standard laser cooling techniques about 108 cesium atoms are accumulated, cooled to a few μK, and transferred into a dissipative optical lattice. READ MORE
