  1. 1. Relaxation and Resonance in Brownian Motion-Coupled Resonators

    Author : Christin Rhen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nonequilibrium dynamics; nonlinear dynamics; resonance; nanomechanics; relaxation; superconducting circuits.; resonator; dispersive coupling; noise; Brownian motion;

    Abstract : In physics, there exists a number of paradigm systems – exactly solvable models that can represent a wide variety of physical realizations. My research is concerned with two of these paradigm systems: the harmonic oscillator and Brownian motion. READ MORE

  2. 2. Water Relaxation Processes as Seen by NMR Spectroscopy Using MD and BD Simulations

    Author : Ken Åman; Per-Olof Westlund; Arnold Maliniak; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; NMR; Stochastic Liouville Equation; Brownian Dynamics; Molecular Dynamics; Water; Relaxation; Deuterium; ESR; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes water proton and deuterium relaxation processes, as seen by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, using Brownian Dynamics (BD) or Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations. The MD simulations reveal new detailed information about the dynamics and order of water molecules outside of a lipid bilayer. READ MORE

  3. 3. Brownian Relaxation Measurements of Magnetic Nanoparticles: Towards the Development of a Novel Biosensor System

    Author : Andrea Prieto Astalan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PSA; Magnetic susceptibility; Brownian relaxation; Biosensor; Prostate specific antigen; Magnetic nanoparticles; Frequency domain; Induction coils; Time domain;

    Abstract : Magnetic measurements of the Brownian relaxation time of thermally blocked magnetic nanoparticles dispersed in a solution have been performed in order to determine the hydrodynamic size distribution of the particles. By measuring changes in the hydrodynamic size of the particles, the ammount of analytes attached to the surface of particles can be determined. READ MORE

  4. 4. Simulation of Relaxation Processes in Fluorescence, EPR and NMR Spectroscopy

    Author : Pär Håkansson; Per-Olof Westlund; Yehudi K. Levine; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; EPR; NMR; Energy migration; bicontinuous cubic phase; Stochastic Liouville Equation; Brownian Dynamics; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical Chemistry; fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : Relaxation models are developed using numerical solutions of the Stochastic Liouville Equation of motion. Simplified descriptions such as the stochastic master equation is described in the context of fluorescence depolarisation experiments. Redfield theory is used in order to describe NMR relaxation in bicontinuous phases. READ MORE

  5. 5. Detection of Biomolecules Using Volume-Amplified Magnetic Nanobeads

    Author : Teresa Zardán Gómez de la Torre; Maria Strømme; Peter Svedlindh; Mikkel Fougt Hansen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Magnetic biosensor; magnetic nanobeads; Brownian relaxation; padlock probe; rolling circle amplification; DNA detection; protein detection; Engineering Science with specialization in Nanotechnology and Functional Materials; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot nanoteknologi och funktionella material;

    Abstract : This thesis describes a new approach to biomolecular analysis, called the volume-amplified magnetic nanobead detection assay (VAM-DNA). It is a sensitive, specific magnetic bioassay that offers a potential platform for the development of low-cost, easy-to-use diagnostic devices. READ MORE
