  1. 1. Fullerene γ-Cyclodextrin Complexes

    Author : Thomas Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; C60; a-cyclodextrin; aggregates; FAB LSIMS; Buckminsterfullerene; g-cyclodextrin; b-cyclodextrin; ring-currents; fullerene; host-guest; C70;

    Abstract : The fullerenes, C60 and C70, can form inclusion complexes with .gamma.-cyclodextrin as the host. The complexes are formed by refluxing a water solution of . READ MORE

  2. 2. Nanostructured carbon materials under extreme conditions

    Author : Mattias Mases; Fernando Rodríguez; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Experimentell fysik; Experimental Physics;

    Abstract : The discovery of the Buckminsterfullerene in 1985 by Richard Smalley, Robert Curl and Harold Kroto opened an era of great interest to the exploration of nanostructured carbon materials. These materials come in many forms and are often categorized by their dimensionality. Graphene is an ideal 2-dimensional (2D) sheet of sp2-bonded carbon atoms. READ MORE

  3. 3. Non-Equilibrium Charge Motion in Organic Solar Cells

    Author : Armantas Melianas; Olle Inganäs; Martijn Kemerink; Jenny Nelson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Organic photovoltaic (OPV) devices based on semiconducting polymers and small molecules allow for a low cost alternative to inorganic solar cells. Recent developments show power conversion efficiencies as high as 10-12%, highlighting the potential of this technology. Nevertheless, further improvements are necessary to achieve commercialization. 4. 4. Electron transport in π-conjugated systems

    Author : Magnus Paulsson; Libero Zuppiroli; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with theoretical studies of electron localization and conductance in conjugated molecular systems. Anderson localization of electrons is examined for nearly one-dimensional systems. This work was performed to understand the peculiar electronic properties of conducting polymers. READ MORE

  5. 5. Calculations of Linear and Nonlinear Optical Properties of Ionic Crystal Surfaces and Fullerenes

    Author : Erik Westin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Electronic and optical properties of ionic crystal surfaces and fullerenes have been studied by means of cluster calculations based on the Local Density Approximation (LDA) method using a numerical LCAO approach. The calculations for the bulk, stoichiometric and non-stoichiometric (111) surfaces of the divalent ionic crystals, CaF2 and BaF2, were based on the construction of an appropriate cluster of Ba++/Ca++ and F- ions representing a local environment of the specific system.
