  1. 1. Energy Efficient Window Systems. Effects on Energy Use and Daylight in Buildings

    Author : Helena Bülow-Hübe; Energi och ByggnadsDesign; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; simulation; thermal transmittance; solar energy transmittance; shading device; solar protection; cooling; heating; energy demand; building; low-emittance coating; window; glazing; comfort; user aspects; operative temperature; Architecture; Building construction; Byggnadsteknik; daylight; perception; interior design; Arkitektur; inredningsarkitektur; Energy research; Energiforskning;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with energy-efficient windows in Swedish buildings. Parametric studies were performed in the dynamic energy simulation tool Derob-LTH in order to study the effects of window choices on energy use and indoor climate for both residential and office buildings. 2. 2. Modelling the Variability of Bending Strength in Structural Timber - Length and Load Configuration Effects

    Author : Tord Isaksson; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; code; reliability-based design; Weibull; test standard; load configuration effect; length effect; weak section; machine grading; visual grading; variability; Structural timber; bending strength; simulation; monte carlo simulation.; Building construction; Byggnadsteknik;

    Abstract : The load carrying capacity of a beam of structural timber is dependent both on the span of the beam and the type of loading. The longer the beam and the more uniform the moment distribution, the lower the load carrying capacity. This phenomenon is due to the variability of material properties within a piece of timber. 3. 3. Modelling and simulation of building components : thermal interaction between multilayer wall and hydronic radiator

    Author : Christian Brembilla; Thomas Olofsson; Per Sahlin; Persson Leif; Annika Moström; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydronic radiator; multilayer wall; efficiencies of emission; systemanalys; Systems Analysis; engineering science with specialization in microsystems technology; teknisk fysik med inriktningen mikrosystemteknik;

    Abstract : Background and Scope: The scope of this thesis is to investigate the thermal behaviour of building components as hydronic radiator and multilayer walls subjected to dynamic conditions. The modelling and simulation of these building components provide information on how these components thermally interact among each other. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cost-optimality approach for prioritisation of buildings envelope energy renovation : A techno-economic perspective

    Author : Farshid Bonakdar; Angela Sasic Kalagasidis; Keith Jones; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; Building renovation; Energy efficiency; Cost-optimality; costeffectiveness; Building envelope; Residential buildings; Building energy simulation; Brute-force algorithm; Sustainable Built Environment; Hållbar byggd miljö;

    Abstract : The existing residential buildings in the European countries are rather old and often fail to meet the current energy performance criteria. In Sweden, about 45% of the existing residential buildings have been constructed before 1960. READ MORE

    Abstract : Integrated High-Fidelity Planetary Mission Simulators: A Toolkit for Fidelity EvaluationSusmita Mohanty Department of Architecture Chalmers University of TechnologyABSTRACTFuture missions to deep space or other planets will rely heavily on Planetary Mission Simulators. Simulators will be used to replicate the experience and conditions of such missions as faithfully as possible within terrestrial constraints. READ MORE
