    Abstract : This thesis is about the heritage in Vientiane. In an attempt to go beyond a more traditional descriptive approach, the study aims at bringing forward a discussion about the definition, or rather the multiplicity of definitions, of the concept of heritage as such. READ MORE

  2. 12. Impacts on sewer performance due to changes to inputs in domestic wastewater

    Author : Jonathan Mattsson; David Butler; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : The impacts of changes in domestic wastewater inputs on sewer performance have been debated since the dawn of the great sewer construction movement in the 1850s. Nowadays, typical household wastewater that enters sewers can generally be divided into streams from the WC, shower and/or bathtub, kitchen sink, washing machine and dishwasher. READ MORE

  3. 13. Angular dynamics of non-spherical particles in linear flows related to production of biobased materials

    Author : Tomas Rosén; Fredrik Lundell; Daniel Söderberg; Minh Do-Quang; Jason E. Butler; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fluid mechanics; dispersed particle flows; inertia; non-linear dynamics; rotary diffusion; characterization techniques;

    Abstract : Dispersed particle flows are encountered in many biological, geophysical but also in industrial situations, e.g. during processing of materials. In these flows, the particles usually are non-spherical and their angular dynamics play a crucial role for the final material properties. READ MORE

  4. 14. Quantifying Gait Characteristics and Neurological Effects in people with Spinal Cord Injury using Data-Driven Techniques

    Author : Minh Truong; Elena Gutierrez-Farewik; Ruoli Wang; Emelie Butler Forslund; Åke Seiger; Peter Christian Raffalt; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; gait analysis; pathological gait; biomechanics; health informatics; metabolic cost; unsupervised learning; nonparametric regression; shapley addictive explanations; gånganalys; funktionsnedsättning; gångpatologi; energiförbrukning; maskininlärning; hälsoinformatik; biomekanik; AI; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Abstract : Spinal cord injury, whether traumatic or nontraumatic, can partially or completely damage sensorimotor pathways between the brain and the body, leading to heterogeneous gait abnormalities. Mobility impairments also depend on other factors such as age, weight, time since injury, pain, and walking aids used. READ MORE

  5. 15. Accumulation and Composition of Gully Pot Sediments under Varying Anthropogenic Activities

    Author : Haoyu Wei; Lian Lundy; Maria Viklander; David Butler; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Catch basin; Stormwater; Sediment; Urban runoff; Xenobiotics; Gully pot maintenance; Emerging pollutant; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : Gully pots (GPs) are an integral urban drainage component, contributing to conveying runoff from urban surfaces and reducing the load of solids and associated contaminants entering downstream piped systems and receiving waters. Over time, the silting-up of GPs impairs their hydraulic performance, increasing the risk of GP blockage-induced flood events and reducing solids retention performance. READ MORE
