  1. 1. Nanocellulose Oxidation - Fundamentals and Application in Hydrogels

    Author : Saül Llacer Navarro; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; sulfate half-ester group; cellulose oxidation; polysaccharide hydrogels; Nanocellulose;

    Abstract : The adaptable surface chemistry of cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) makes them outstanding; it provides colloidal stability, which is essential for engineering use, to commercially-available CNCs. Colloidal stability is achieved by the bulky negatively-charged sulfate half-ester groups on the surface that it manufactures itself via the use of sulfuric acid. READ MORE

  2. 2. Phase Noise Tolerant Modulation Formats and DSP Algorithms for Coherent Optical Systems

    Author : Jaime Rodrigo Navarro; Sergei Popov; Gunnar Jacobsen; Richard Schatz; Xiaodan Pang; Oskars Ozolins; Gabriella Bosco; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; optical communications; carrier phase recovery; blind phase search; circular quadrature amplitude modulation; CmQAM; coherent optical communications; digital signal processing; carrier phase estimation; equalization enhanced phase noise; EEPN; Telecommunication; Telekommunikation;

    Abstract : Coherent detection together with multilevel modulation formats has the potential to significantly increase the capacity of existing optical communication systems at no extra cost in signal bandwidth. However, these modulation formats are more susceptible to the impact of different noise sources and distortions as the distance between its constellation points in the complex plane reduces with the modulation index. 3. 3. Precise measurements of electron affinities using Laser Photodetachment Threshold Spectroscopy

    Author : Jose Eduardo Navarro Navarrete; Henning Zettergren; Henning T. Schmidt; Jan-Erik Rubensson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; fysik;

    Abstract :  In this work we have performed Laser Photodetachment Threshold Spectroscopy (LPTS) to determine the electron affinities of the atomic species $^{133}$Cs and $^{16}$O with high precision. The negative ion of Cesium has been produced and investigated at the Gothenburg University Negative Ion and Laser LAboratory (GUNILLA) while the Oxygen anion have been studied in the Double ElectroStatic Ion Ring ExpEriment (DESIREE) at Stockholm University. 4. 4. On Service Optimization in Community Network Micro-Clouds

    Author : Nuno Apolonia; Leandro Navarro; Sarunas Girdzijauskas; Felix Freitag; Vladimir Vlassov; Dino Lopez; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; micro-clouds; Community Networks; cloud services; social networks; overlay networks; distributed systems; Datalogi; Computer Science;

    Abstract : Internet coverage in the world is still weak and local communities are required to come together and build their own network infrastructures. People collaborate for the common goal of accessing the Internet and cloud services by building Community networks (CNs).The use of Internet cloud services has grown over the last decade. READ MORE

  5. 5. Increasing phase transformation rate in advanced high strength steel applications

    Author : Farnoosh Forouzan; Esa Vuorinen; Frank Mücklich; Maria Santofimia Navarro; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Advanced high strength steel; Quenching and partitioning; welding; Engineering Materials; Materialteknik;

    Abstract : The bainite transformation rate has been shown to increase by starting the heat treatment with partial martensite transformation after austenitization. Based on this fact, a process very similar to “Quenching and Partitioning” (Q&P) is used to produce a fine-grained complex microstructure of martensite, bainite and retained austenite with outstanding mechanical properties in a very short time.
