6. Mutual Neutralization in collisionswith oppositely charged fullerene(C60) ions
Abstract : In this thesis, results from Mutual Neutralization experiment carried out atthe DESIREE facility, involving merged interacting ion beams, of oppositelycharged C60 ions are presented. This reaction may be of importance for explain-ing reliable estimates of the ionization balance in astrophysical environments, which defines the chemistry in molecular gas clouds. READ MORE

7. Cardiac Troponins in Patients with Suspected or Confirmed Acute Coronary Syndrome : New Applications for Biomarkers in Coronary Artery Disease
Abstract : The cardiac troponins are the biochemical markers of choice for the diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and risk prediction in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). In this thesis, the role of early serial cardiac troponin I (cTnI) testing was assessed in fairly unselected patient populations admitted because of chest pain and participating in the FAST II-study (n=197) and the FASTER I-study (n=380). 10. Biomarkers of vascular function and structure in young healthy adults
Abstract : Atherosclerosis is a disease affecting the blood vessels in the body. Its pathophysiologic mechanisms involve infiltration of the vessel walls by fatty matter and immune cells. This process is slow, starting in childhood but typically not manifesting as symptomatic disease until late adulthood (after 60 years of age). READ MORE
