  1. 1. Cellular Uptake of Cystatin C. Subcellular localisation and intracellular effects of a secreted cysteine protease inhibitor

    Author : Hanna Wallin; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cathepsin; cell line; co-localisation; cystatin C; internalisation; legumain;

    Abstract : Cystatin C is a cysteine protease inhibitor, aimed for secretion, as it is produced with a signal peptide. Its target enzymes are thought to be the lysosomal cysteine cathepsins and legumain. READ MORE

  2. 2. Malory and Authorship: A Study of an Irresolvable Debate

    Author : Marie Wallin; Engelska; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; medieval literature; Eugène Vinaver; C.S. Lewis; textual criticism; Arthurian literature; Sir Thomas Malory; Le Morte Darthur; William Caxton; authorship;

    Abstract : This thesis examines the scholarly study of Sir Thomas Malory’s Le Morte Darthur, especially the way in which the field has been shaped by the discovery of the Winchester MS in 1934. Owing to the complex relationship between the manuscript and the printed edition of 1485, both contradictory and co-dependent, Le Morte seems to invite a number of narratives regarding its origins and originality while simultaneously foreclosing definitive resolution. 3. 3. Evasion of CO₂ from streams : quantifying a carbon component of the aquatic conduit in the boreal landscape

    Author : Marcus Wallin; Robert Striegl; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Lateral export of carbon (C) from soils to running waters is a persistent pathway for C with terrestrial origin. This "aquatic conduit" might be especially important in boreal regions where a significant part of the global C stock is stored in the soil. READ MORE

  4. 4. Foodborne Virulence: Staphylococcus aureus Enterotoxins A and D

    Author : Nina Wallin; Teknisk mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; environmental factors; phage-encoded virulence; in vivo; enterotoxin D; enterotoxin A; gene expression; Staphylococcus aureus; virulence;

    Abstract : The development of new, minimally processed food products challenges traditional concepts of food safety. How pathogenic bacteria behave in these new matrices is not known. To fill this knowledge gap and enable the production of food that is safe for the consumer, more information on virulence expression of pathogens in food matrices is required. READ MORE

  5. 5. Post Cardiac Arrest Care : Evaluation of prognostic tools, Patient outcomes and Relatives’ experiences at 6 months after the event

    Author : Ewa Wallin; Sten Rubertsson; Marja-Leena Kristofferzon; Silvana Naredi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cardiac arrest; hypothermia; neurological outcome; cerebral oxygenation; MRI; relatives; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Abstract : The overall aim of the present thesis was to study post-resuscitation care of cardiac arrest (CA) patients treated with target temperature management 33°C with a focus on evaluation of two prognostic tools: variations in cerebral venous saturation and acute magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings on the brain post-CA. An additional aim was to investigate patients’ neurological outcome and relatives’ experiences 6 months after the event. READ MORE
