  1. 1. New C-C coupling Reactions Enabled by Main-group Organometallics

    Author : Kilian Colas; Abraham Mendoza; David Procter; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; C-C coupling; organometallics; aluminum; magnesium; Grignard; turbo-Hauser-bases; piperazines; sulfur; ketones; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : The carbon-carbon bond has always been at the very core of chemical research. Strategies for the creation of C−C bonds are one of the keys to the construction game that organic chemists play with the building blocks provided by Nature, with the ultimate goal of producing useful molecular structures that will serve society as medicines, materials, imaging tools, catalysts, and ligands (to mention but a few). 3. 3. Metallacyclic Phosphine Complexes and Intramolecular Csp3-H Bond Activation -Synthesis, Characterisation and Catalytic Application

    Author : Sven Sjövall; Kemiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; catalysis; Heck; diphosphite; diphosphine; phosphine; cyclometallation; C-C activation; C-O activation; C-H activation; palladium; rhodium; iridium; Inorganic chemistry; Oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis deals with metallacyclic late transition metal complexes, obtained by intramolecular Csp3-H activation, and the application of such compounds in catalysis. The new hemilabile P,O phosphines N-methyl-N-propionyl-2-(diphenylphosphino)benzylamine (DPPAM), o-(diphenylphosphino)benzoic acid ethyl ester (DPPES), o-(diphenylphosphino)benzoic acid methyl ether (DPPET) and ±-1-(2- diphenylphosphino)phenylethyl propionate (±-DPPMES) and the symmetrical diphosphorus donor ligands cis-1,3-bis[(diphenylphosphino)methyl]-cyclohexane (DPCY), cis-1,3-bis[(di-tertbutylphosphino)methyl]cyclohexane (DTBCY) and cis-1,3-bis[(di-isopropylphosphino)methyl]cyclohexane (DIPCY) have been synthesised, allowing the preparation of a range of new metallacyclic rhodium(III), iridium(III) and palladium(II) complexes. 4. 4. Transition metal-catalysed hydrogen transfer processes for C-C and C-N bond formation : Synthetic studies and mechanistic investigations

    Author : Agnieszka Bartoszewicz; Belen Martin-Matute; Martin Albrecht; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hydrogen transfer; catalysis; transition metal; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis focusses on synthetic studies and mechanistic investigations into reactions involving hydrogen-transfer processes.In the first part, the development of an efficient method for the synthesis of β-hydroxy ketones (aldols) and β-amino ketones (Mannich products) from allylic alcohols and aldehydes is described. 5. 5. Development of catalytic enantioselective C-C bond-forming and cascade transformations by merging homogeneous or heterogeneous transition metal catalysis with asymmetric aminocatalysis

    Author : Samson Afewerki; Armando Córdova; MICHELANGELO GRUTTADAURIA; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; asymmetric catalysis; transition metals; aldehydes; heterogeneous catalysis; amino acid; organocatalysis; α-allylation; β-alkylation; dynamic transformations; polysubstituted; carbocycles; spirocyclic oxindoles; all-carbon quaternary stereocenters;

    Abstract : Chiral molecules play a central role in our daily life and in nature, for instance the different enantiomers or diastereomers of a chiral molecule may show completely different biological activity. For this reason, it is a vital goal for synthetic chemists to design selective and efficient methodologies that allow the synthesis of the desired enantiomer. READ MORE
