1. Regulation of Intracellular Calcium in Brown Adipocytes
Abstract : Intracellular Ca2+ is considered a primary regulator of cell function. In the present study, the control and the effects of intracellular Ca2+ in brown adipocytes have been investigated. Cytosolic Ca2+ levels ([Ca2+]i) are the resultant of the activity of Ca2+ transport systems. READ MORE

2. Ruthenium-catalyzed C-H Functionalization of (Hetero)arenes
Abstract : This thesis concerned about the Ru-catalyzed C-H functionalizations on the synthesis of 2-arylindole unit, silylation of heteroarenes and preparation of aryne precursor. In the first project, we developed the Ru-catalyzed C2-H arylation of N-(2-pyrimidyl) indoles and pyrroles with nucleophilic arylboronic acids under oxidative conditions. 3. Palladium Catalysis in Directed C-H Bond Activation and Cycloisomerisation Reactions
Abstract : The main focus of this thesis concerns the development of Pd(II)-catalysed synthetic methodologies for the preparation of biologically active compounds. In the first part (paper I-III), unactivated C–H bonds of a cyclobutane derivative are selectively functionalised using a directing group starting from the feedstock compound verbenone (paper I). 4. Iridium-Catalyzed C−H Activation Methods for Late-Stage Functionalization of Pharmaceuticals
Abstract : C-H activations have over the recent decades risen from a mere curiosity to a viable synthetic strategy. However, challenges in terms of accessible transformations, selectivity and functional group tolerance limit the widespread applicability of this approach. READ MORE

5. C-H Activation Reactions Mediated by Pd Based Heterogeneous Catalysts : Regioselective Formation of C-O and C-X Bonds
Abstract : New classes of N-heterocyclic carbene-palladium(II) complexes containing either a vinyl group in different positions or an anthracene tag in the backbone of the N-heterocycle were synthesized and fully characterized. The vinyl based complexes were copolymerized with divinylbenzene to fabricate robust polymer-supported NHC-Pd(II) systems, while the anthracene based complexes were π-stacked onto the surface of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) producing immobilized catalysts with interesting features.
