1. Proinsulin C-peptide : membrane interactions and intracellular signaling
Abstract : In the past decade, new evidence has emerged of a physiological role for C-peptide. C-peptide replacement improves renal and nerve function and augments regional blood flow in type I diabetic patients. READ MORE

2. Renal effects of C-peptide in experimental type-1 diabetes mellitus
Abstract : The incidence and prevalence of diabetic nephropathy are increasing continuously, mainly due to the increase in type-2 diabetes. In contrast, the risk of diabetic nephropathy for the individual patient has decreased considerably in recent decades due to improved glycemic control, successful treatment of hypertension and hyperlipidemia and the use of renin angiotensin system inhibitors, which have protective effects beyond those on blood pressure. 3. Epidemiology of diabetes in a well defined population in Sweden: the Skaraborg Diabetes Registry
Abstract : Time trends in prevalence, incidence and mortality was followed in 15000 diabetic patients in 1991?2005. Clinical findings, C-peptide protocols, and islet antibodies were compared in their ability to distinguish type 1 from type 2 diabetes, and factors associated with the prognosis of diabetes were explored. 4. Long term complications in juvenile diabetes mellitus
Abstract : Background/aim. The incidence of microvascular complications has been reported to be unchanged the last decades. However, in randomized clinical trials it has been shown that improved metabolic control can reduce the development of long term complications. READ MORE

5. Endogenous hormones in the etiology of ovarian and endometrial cancers
Abstract : The main purpose of this thesis was to examine the relationship of pre-diagnostic circulating levels of sex-steroids (androgens and estrogens), sex hormone binding globuline (SHBG), insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I), IGF binding proteins (BP) and C-peptide (as a marker of pancreatic insulin secretion) with risk of ovarian and endometrial cancer. Additionally, the interrelationships of body mass index (BMI), sex-steroids, IGF-I and IGFBP-3 were examined. READ MORE
