  1. 16. Ultrafast Coherent X-ray Diffractive Nanoimaging

    Author : Filipe R. N. C. Maia; Janos Hajdu; David van der Spoel; Keith Nugent; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : XFEL; Phasing; Image Reconstruction; Single Particle Imaging; Ultrafast Diffraction; X-ray diffraction; Coherent Diffractive Imaging; CXDI;

    Abstract : X-ray lasers are creating unprecedented research opportunities in physics,chemistry and biology. The peak brightness of these lasers exceeds presentsynchrotrons by 1010, the coherence degeneracy parameters exceedsynchrotrons by 109, and the time resolution is 105 times better. READ MORE

  2. 17. Lignocellulose Biocomposites– A Comparison of Wood Fibers and Microfibrillated Lignocellulose

    Author : Erfan Oliaei; Lars Berglund; Tom S. C. Lindström; Fredrik Berthold; ‪Maria Soledad Peresin; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Abstract : All-lignocellulose composites, meaning densified fiber or fibril materials without added binder, show interesting mechanical properties and can be eco-friendly. Composites based on hot-pressed microfibrillated lignocellulose (MFLC) and lignocellulosic wood fiber (WF) reinforcements are compared with respect to processing, structure, mechanical properties, and eco-indicators. 3. 18. Improving the functionality of synchronous machines using power electronics

    Author : Fredrik Evestedt; Urban Lundin; C. Johan. D. Abrahamsson; Jon Kjellin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Power electronics; Synchronous machines; Excitation systems; Magnetic thrust bearing; Starting synchronous machines; Split rotor; Rotating electronics; Magnetic fields; Measurement systems; Unbalanced magnetic pull; Harmonics; Engineering Science with specialization in Science of Electricity; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektricitetslära;

    Abstract : With the advent of modern power electronics there is reason to explore what can be achieved when it is applied to a mature technology like synchronous machines. In this text several concepts will be presented on how it is possible to control forces and how to get better performance out of synchronous machines by using power electronics. READ MORE

  4. 19. Time-Resolved Attosecond Spectroscopy of He Using COLTRIMS

    Author : Predrag Ranitovic; Reinhold Schuch; C. L. Cocke; Robert Moshammer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; attosecond spectroscopy; Physics; Fysik; Physics; fysik;

    Abstract : Tunable ultrafast lasers are becoming a standard tool for probing and controlling the dynamics of atoms, molecules and chemical reactions. This thesis is a contribution to a large, ongoing effort to make spectroscopic tools for inducing and controlling, in real time, the natural processes which occur on the femto and attosecond times scales. 5. 20. Magnetic solotronics near the surface of a semiconductor and a topological insulator

    Author : Mohammad Reza Mahani; C.M. Canali; Biplab Sanyal; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Magnetic solotronics; Transition metal dopants; Dilute magnetism in semiconductors and topological insulators; Atomistic tight-binding models; DFT; Spin dynamics; Magnetic anisotropy; Scanning tunneling microscope.; Condensed Matter Physics; Kondenserade materians fysik;

    Abstract : Technology where a solitary dopant acts as the active component of an opto-electronic device is an emerging  field known as solotronics, and bears the promise to revolutionize the way in which information is stored, processed and transmitted. Magnetic doped semiconductors and in particular (Ga, Mn)As, the archetype of dilute magnetic semiconductors, and topological insulators (TIs), a new phase of quantum matter with unconventional characteristics, are two classes of quantum materials that have the potential to advance spin-electronics technology.
