  1. 1. Sentinel Node Biopsy in Breast Cancer : Clinical and Immunological Aspects

    Author : Jana de Boniface; Leif Bergkvist; Annika Håkansson; Omgo Nieweg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Surgery; breast cancer; tumour immunology; sentinel node biopsy; CD3-zeta; CD28; Kirurgi;

    Abstract : The most important prognostic factor in breast cancer is the axillary lymph node status. The sentinel node biopsy (SNB) is reported to stage the axilla with an accuracy > 95 % in early breast cancer. Tumour-related perturbation of T-cell function has been observed in patients with malignancies, including breast cancer. READ MORE

  2. 2. Experimental studies of human fetal liver cells : in regard to in utero hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

    Author : Bim Lindton; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : In utero transplantation; fetal liver cells; mixed lymphocyte culture; CD3; CD56; HLA class II; parvovirus B 19 capsids; corticosteroids; cytotoxic drugs; colony formation.;

    Abstract : Successful in utero hematopoietic stem cell transplantation represents a potential step forward in the management of patients with severe inherited hematological, metabolic and immunological disorders. Animal data from a number of species have demonstrated evidence of engraftment, but to date the only effective in utero transplantations (IUTx) in humans have been performed in fetuses with severe immunodeficiencies, suggesting that the fetal immune system play a vital role in the success or failure of in utero transplantation. 3. 3. Maturation of T-lymphocytes and monocytes in children in relation to development of atopic disease

    Author : Helena Aniansson Zdolsek; Örjan Stranne; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Bakgrund: Atopiska sjukdomar har ökat i västvärlden under de senaste årtiondena. För att förstå den bakomliggande mekanismen vid sensibilisering mot allergen behöver vi förbättra vår kunskap av T-lymfocyters och monocyters utmognad hos små bam. READ MORE

  4. 4. Extrathymic T cell receptor gene rearrangement in human alimentary tract

    Author : Anna Bas; Marie-Louise Hammarström; Sten Hammarström; Adrian Hayday; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; T cell maturation; recombination activating gene; preTα; human intestinal mucosa; intraepithelial lymphocytes; lamina propria lymphocytes; nasopharyngeal tonsil; Immunologi; Immunology; Immunologi; immunologi; Immunology;

    Abstract : T lymphocytes regulate the initiation, duration, and magnitude of adaptive immune responses and function as effector cells in cell mediated immunity. To become immunologically competent they must generate functional antigen receptors. This process takes place in the thymus and requires somatic recombination of T cell receptor (TCR) genes. 5. 5. Dissociative Recombination of Astrochemically Interesting Ions

    Author : Mathias Hamberg; Wolf Geppert; Mats Larsson; Stephan Schlemmer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dissociative Recombination; Astrochemistry; Chemical physics; Kemisk fysik; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : In this thesis the major work described concerns experimental determination of the dissociative recombination (DR) reaction for several molecular ions of astrochemical interest. DR is the process where an electron recombines with a molecular ion to form an excited neutral that disintegrates into two or more neutral fragments to release the gained excess energy. READ MORE
